Oh, I forgot to mention the one interesting thing about the meeting -- the new BBC Web site should be up and running by 1 February. We got a preview of some of the features -- it's a lot more interactive, particularly with regard to the ride schedule, looks pretty cool. Cuesheetcentral will be phased out, as will the Yahoo BBC group (there will be several "forum" sections set up on the Web site for chatting.)
Also, going forward, membership dues are going to be less for those who opt to get the newsletter only electronically, and more for those who want a mailed printed copy.

Glad Bob brought his bike inside or it could've suffered the same fate.

Welcome to my neighborhood. The York Rd. Corridor is like a supermarket for thieves. Bummer.
I was going to go to the meeting but my wife was fixing dinner and I was pretty cozy. I did a solo 48 on Saturday as opposed to the BBC ride which I missed by dragging ass in the a.m.
Did an indoor class at Meadowmill on Sunday, it's a Ride for The Feast training group. Might be joining their team for the RFF ride in May.
Did 20 easy recovery miles today at Mbello, wild weather, springlike and then rather dramatic clouds moved in and the wind literally pushed me around, now that's a strong wind.
I should be on the road tomorrow and Wednesday as the weather looks good.

Tentative: Barry's Bikes, beer and baristas ride.
Sunday Feb 7
Basic Tentative outline: Starting at Dunkin Donuts on Reisterstown & Falstaff, pick up Harry (Roland and Lake), Bob (Roland and 36), Maxine and Charlie (BWI trail) NR can chime in where he would like to meet on this route. First stop is a cute little coffee Shop on the B&A Trail (north of McKinsey Rd IIRC) then to Annapolis for lunch at Moe's Southwest Grill. Back to the city with a rest stop at Royal Farms (Annapolis and W Patapsco) then to The Diz for dinner and drinks.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Maybe invite the club to join in at Marley Station?

You can pick me up somewhere convenient for you three that's along the way--perhaps Carroll Park.
If you invite the BBC, make sure they know that bikes are mandatory--no MVs! Actually, they can drive and park at the Dixon Observation Parking Lot and ride to Marley Station, minimum!
Ok... I'm kidding (sorta).

I should be able to swing the coffee-and-lunch portion of the ride (Sundays are often a bit tougher for me than Saturdays.) At the risk of NR turning his head and giving me the palm of his hand
I may opt to stop at my house on the way back and then drive up to The Diz. (Not sure I want to ride through that Hanover/Patapsco/Pennington-Cherry Hill/Curtis Bay gauntlet later at night . . .)
Oh, and NR -- no mention of the racing team at the meeting, I'm pretty sure. I was a few minutes late, but they were on a different topic when I walked in.

I wonder if Michael Ball will send me a Rock Racing kit if I ask him for one?

As for Barry's ride, sounds epic, gotta see if I have a prior commitment. If not I expect I would be doing a rounder from Lake and Roland.
All,
As we've been talking about lately, and as we did last year, we're going
to have a Men's Team meeting scheduled for the 13th of February. I'd
like to have everyone arrive by/at 5 p.m. so we can hopefully get down
to business shortly after. On the agenda is a discussion of the coming
season's races (which we're individually planning to be at, which we
want a big showing at, etc.) as well as some talks about strategy and
anything else that might come up. We did this at Geoff Frost's house
last year, and as a first-year racer, it was extremely informative. This
is a great time for our new guys to learn a lot from the more ...
experienced ... racers.
I've been working on my recipes for pizza dough and sauce, so I've got
that covered. If someone(s) could bring frosty beverages, you would
surely be regarded as a hero of the team, and if anyone wants to bring
other snacks, that is also very much welcomed.
Also, if your significant others and children (Also known as your
"supporters") are feeling left out of your racing life, feel free to
bring them along, and they can mingle upstairs while we talk business in
the man-cave.
Please at least reply to me if you're going to be here so I know how
many pizzas to make, and let me know if/how many supporters you'll be
bringing (and how big their stomachs are.) Here are all the important
details ...
What: Men's Team Meeting
When: 13 February 2010

I'm good for the Barry ride. I had been mulling over that Proteus Cycles CX race, but I was leaning towards 'no' anyway.
The Miyata single speed/fixed has a fair amount of toe overlap which is manageable for road riding, but I could see myself getting hung up and doing an endo in a CX race.
Way better to ride with you guys.

Teresa and I are headed to Key West next week.
I'll be hard-pressed to get in the miles down there.
I'll probably take my shoes and pedals and rent a ride when I get down there.
Hope to have a good tan for Barry's Beer and baristas ride on the 7th.

You really need to watch out for these. Melissa and I saw lots while snorkeling and one grabbed my line while fishing for tuna, I had a tuna hooked and the cudda cut him in half. Yowza!Barracuda2006SRogerson1.jpg

Hey Folks: been away recently. My dad ha been moved into home hospice with a nurse part time and us kids part time so most of my typical activities have diminished. I did bike commute today. Really chilly this AM, in the teens.
Barry's ride: I'm in as long as I am not needed for my dad.

Charlie,
Very sorry to hear about your dad's declining health. I cannot really believe that I'm on the "otherside" of my experience with my mom in hospice.
You all were good friends to me during that time and I still appreciate it. I'm sending my best vibes your way. Hope we see you on the 7th.
And here's a diversion I saw over at the touring forum:

Gave blood today after a 3 mile treadmill run and a swim, wiped out.
I need to order some studded tires, how else am I going to get miles in? GB-you commute everyday on slicks? on ice and snow?

I guess GB and other half is on the way to Key West. Almost any place else would be warmer than here.
I had no problems with my commute to work. There were a few icy spots along the way.
Carried my large backpack, so that I could bring in fresh work clothes.

Is the Farewell Barry ride still on for Sunday?
Just heard 20-24" of snow tomorrow into Saturday, and high of 27 on Sunday.
