Let's finalize the details of the BBBBB ride, Barry's bike and beer ride on Berry street through Baltimore
Meet: Mnt Washington's Starbucks (1340 Smith Ave., Baltimore, MD 21209)
When: April, 18th(Sunday)
Time: chime in here folks. Barry is good to go at 7:00. Is this too early?? If it is we can ride @ 8:00 or later. Speak now
Route: Either Bobs through the western burbs and back through Baltimore ending at Dizz OR Barry's up the Monkton rail trail towards York, Pa.

Gotta clean my ride, lube it up, and swap out pedals.

Heads up: Taxes, I FU. Should have used Turbo tax. FWIW: there's a new deduction(big $$) called schedule M. It's worth $400/person, $800/married. I have to re-file argh!

Edit: Temps will be much colder than today. 40F AM start only getting into the mid 50s during the day.

Wahhh! I like 8am better if I'm coming from the east side.

It's Barry's ride. I think we should go where Barry wants to go.

Bikes: Airborne Carpe Diem; Trek 520

NoRacer has my proxy -- I'll also vote for the 8:00 a.m. start (it'll be a smidge warmer), and for riding where Barry wants to ride.

(Hmmm, if the latter is the NCR Trail, I think I'll bring the Airborne, but swap the Mavics for the 520's wheels and their cushier tires!)

NR is the expert in this area. He'll school you.
There is Biller's Bikes transport service over Hatem. He's a heck of a nice guy and I would love to see some business go his way.

Let's make the time 8:00 and the route BB2BBBBBBR (Barry's bit to Bob's Barry's Bike and Beer ride on Berry street through Baltimore Route.) https://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...&z=15&lci=bike

Edit: (I can't think of a way to add more B's with the NCR route. )

BB2BBBBBBR (Barry's bit to Bob's Barry's Bike and Beer ride on Berry street through Baltimore Route) - say that 5 times fast!

I guess I won't be putting fat tires on the bike before Sunday. I was this close ||.

The plan comes together . . .

I'll have to play around with the maps a bit. I'd really like to keep my car completely out of the festivities but I dunno about biking from my house to Mt. Washington by 8:00, and then doing the rest of the ride with you monsters (and then back home from Hampden.) I may meet up with you en-route, perhaps in Elllicott City or Patapsco. (And that way everyone will have less time having to put up with my slowness! )

Oh dear it looks like we are going to have to stop at that tavern in Elllicott City to met up with Maxine.

Someone want to calculate ~time or at least the mileage to that point?

It's a little over 20 miles. We'd get into EC about 10AM assuming we leave a little late. Not sure when Ellicott Mills opens. Might be noon.

Edit: Ellicott mills opens at 11:30 on sunday. We could do repeats on Ilchester till they open.

Seems we all in agreement. Should be a good day for a ride. 8 @ *bucks(ain't that cute).
The mileage to Ellicott city"looks" halfway(ish)

@Max: It ain't the early morn ride that scares me. If we go to the Dizz at the end then the final leg home will have some issues. Someone near towson wants to borrow my truck on Saturday, I might tell to keep it until I pick it up on Sunday...still trying to work out the plan. I can bring you back over to the westside after festivities if that helps. I'll know more later.
Any of you others posters fell free to join us...Rizz, Elk.
Harry, how 'bout you.

Or we could do coffee instead of Ilchester repeats Lets say, Sweet 8143 Main Street Ellicott City, MD 21043 (410) 461-9275 ~ 10 AM

Is that good for you Maxine?

If GB does the map we can do Dogwood over and over....until we get it right. At least Harry and NR can. OR: We could also add Dogwood, Wrights Mill, Davis, woodstock, Frederick. The place should be open by then. Or we can go to my house. It's open 24/7/365

*sigh* BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB riders, just make whatever plans you want and give me rough ETA's for various spots. My participation is now up in the air.

I pulled my hamstring -- way high up, just below my butt -- rather violently at my softball game last night. I was playing it off in front of my teammates, LOL, but it REALLY hurt like a [expletive deleted.] I could barely walk.

This morning everything is achy, but I seem to be able to walk mostly normally. As long as my leg is in a straight line, things don't feel too awry. When I sit normally in a chair, both feet flat on the ground, and raise my left leg (still bent 90 degrees at the knee) straight up, it starts to hurt just before my foot gets level with my right knee. Then, if I try to cross my legs -- put my left ankle onto my right knee, or drape my left knee over my right knee -- yeah, that is *so* not happening, and I'm seeing stars whenever I try.

I'll take a spin later this afternoon, see how things feel. It's possible I could ride, but getting up hills might be a problem.

If I can't ride, I'll drive up to the Diz and meet you all there. My beer drinking muscles were thankfully uninjured.

Ouch Max. Sorry to hear about the injury and bummer that you may not be able to ride. Without the girl power in the group I'm afraid the conversation might just devolve into an Andrew Dice Clay routine. Damn. You gotta make it to the jrinking at the end. <urp>

Maxine, bring your achy broken butt (isn't there a song called something like that?) out on this ride and if you need therapy between stops, I'm sure we can work something out. I have hourly rates! :rotflmao: If that doesn't work, we'll find a bungee cord somewhere. Just get your achy broken butt out there.

Seriously, though, you know your body better than anyone else. Do what you feel is right.

Today's crappy ride - https://bimactive.com/ba/journal/post/10783/31991

I just got back in from a ride up to the airport, once around, and back home (14.6 miles). On the flats, as long as I didn't put too much pressure on my leg, and kept everything nice and smooth, I just got the occasional twinge. The hills were a little iffy, harder to keep the pressure off, but not too bad if I kept the gear low and relied more on my right leg. (Of course, the biggest hill on the BWI Trail is only about 5%, and it isn't very long.)

So I'm still in, if you guys don't mind me being EVEN SLOWER than usual (my average for the ride today was a whopping 11 mph -- though the 30 mph winds may have had something to do with that ). You guys can do hill repeats as I granny my way to the tops.

I'm going to re-look at the route and pick a join-up spot; I may forego the Ellicott Mills Brewing Company to eliminate some of the Ellicott City hills. (One beer stop is probably more than enough for me anyway!) I'll post again when I figure it out.

Yay! Max is in. I'll bring a couple of cue sheets even though I don't think we'll need 'em. Here's the route on bikely:

I'll see y'all at 8 at *bucks. (probably hungover- headed out to the party soon)

I will meet up with the group at the left turn onto Hammonds Ferry Road from West Nursery Road. That should give me about a 40-mile round-trip ride, which I think my leg will be okay for (aided by the beer break in the middle, of course! )

Let me know, roughly, what time you guys think you'll get to that point -- I'll make sure I'm early!
