There's still some fun out there on the paths.

Baltimore Velo has been posting some very nice stuff of late. Another great B'more biking resource.
I liked these two:

Work sent me to Dallas, TX for a workshop for a week. See... I wasn't even missed. :(

@NR: you were missed that's one of the reason that I said the site was going the way of the dodo. I figured you were chillin' @ Facebook. I didn't know you went anywhere. Welcome back. I would read your ride report but seems garmin is down and work doesn't allow FB. Going to log some late hours tonight. I'm still at work. Getting a new microscope installed and the software driven program doesn't want to be driven...I already miss my old analog beast...

@GB: cardboard fenders....I guess in a pinch, no style points. Want to ride next rando but weather has to be better than the current status shows for the wknd. I ain't as tough as you. We'll see. I could have rode this Sunday, weather was decent but I decided to brew an Oktoberfest! Long and tedious process, leave it to the Germans to complicate brewing, though their process yields excellent results.

@kstryapko: welcome

Back to the salt mines, we just rebooted...for the 100th time

Greetings and welcome.

Welcome Cable you mightbe interested in this group. Fairly new but well organized:
http://www.bikehoco.org/

They also have a group on facebook somewhere.

I (along with the Catonsville rail trail group, Nate Evans Balto city bike planner and Carol Sildorff Bike Maryland) met with Baltimore county council trying to get a BC bike advocacy started in Baltimore County. At first I thought it was going to be a slam dunk but the head of the council voice $$ concerns of starting a new group etc etc etc..... right off the bat. We each had our turn talking. I was last and most of what I was going to say had been said. So last minute I talked about myself and why I started bike commuting. Told them I started after 9-11, not wanting to send my money to the middle east anymore, if they thought they were saving money by not building bike lanes yet filling their car with gas think again, also talk about how I rode my bike as a kid but my kids couldn't do that and we should do this for the grand-kids on and on I went. Not certain how well received it was but I did get their attention.

Commute was wet but much better than expected.

+1, sort of. I still don't have a way to dry my stuff, so even now (3:33pm), my gloves and shoes are still wet.

Nate seems to think it was well worth the mention according to his post on Bike Baltimore:

Charlie, I don't like tooting horns (mine own especially). I don't really know what to say to them or even like talking to politicians. I just do what I do.

The Human Car 02-02-11 04:32 PM

Charlie, can I quote you on spokes? People come out of the wood work when there is something to fight for.

@ NR sucks about the gloves. Last nights ride home was a windy mother, had to freeze your fingers. Later today or tonight look for PM with some thoughts for the politicians

@Barry: you can use it but I'll PM you as to the entire statement. One thing I said "this is NOT for us but......." I'm crazy busy at work right now so can't get into a lot

Hope I can keep up with you guys!

Love to hear that. See ya tomorrow.

NoRacer 02-06-11 06:16 PM

Made it home after stopping for something to eat. I was famished!

vengeful_lemon 02-06-11 06:19 PM

Just got in - we got in atthe same time???

Great ride thanks guys. Didn't see anyone at the airport except People who were watching planes, so I guess everyone had already made it back.

Glad to hear you made it back safely. "Friend" me on facebook, dude! (check my sig for the address) Your picture is posted.

greaterbrown 02-06-11 07:07 PM

I've heard from several other riders and so far all are okay. Thank you both for hanging with me on the last 1/2.
Much nicer riding with company. I'll whip up a ride report and post pics ASAP

Done!

Glad to hear that everyone made it back okay! That's the most important part.

vengeful_lemon 02-06-11 07:53 PM

Oh, and we were glad to ride with you the second half. Company goes both ways, but sorry to dart ahead so often.
