Where are the MD peoples

BTW, Harry. While I was getting the bike set up, I decided to pull the crank just to see what all this BB30 stuff was about. While the crank was off, I decided to pull the FSA rings off and put my 'Q'-rings on--50x34. So, now the front is no longer 46x36.

Annapolis area and new addition to the forums. Really have been bitten by the bike bug, but sadly don't have the money to support it. Really looking for a cheap road bike for commute and riding around here. Mountain bike isn't cutting it.

Check you local bike shops for some 2009 or 2010 bikes sitting around collecting dust.

Maybe Dave P. from your FB page? Dunno.
Anyway, great job attacking the mileage competition. Do you have a link to the leader board?
I'm on the last couple days of D2R2 practice. This last week I've been hill climbing almost exclusively. I ride a local route that gives me 1650ft. of climbing in 15 miles. Even so, this route is flatter than D2R2 at 14,000ft in 115 miles. Needless to say, I'm still a bit wary of the ride, however, I feel capable of finishing as long as I pace myself well and don't crash. I'll finish up practice next week doing low mileage with a daily 1 mile hill sprint to keep the legs alive. Harry lent me his bike box- I'll ship the Kogswell up to Mass. on Monday. Teresa and I are headed up Thursday AM by train. I'm really excited about the whole affair.

I'm bummed that the 24 Hours Of Booty ride is the same weekend as D2R2. Anybody going down to Columbia to root on Max, Dave#2, Harry, etc?
I'd be there with breakfast beers for all y'all if I were in town. WAY TO GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, Dave P.
Sounds like "practice" is going well. Wishing you the best of luck on that ride. No crashing allowed!
I haven't heard of anyone else going down for 24HoB. I'm contemplating riding over, but Columbia is not one of my favorite riding destinations. I need to see if I can find one of the past routes used for that area.

Historic tour
https://www.mapmyride.com/workout/62686516
Summer is running to an end so I decided to get some good miles in and see some sights this week. Headed out west to harpers ferry wv, had an awesome lunch before heading across the mountains to Virginia. Cruised around historic leesburg Virginia before taking whites ferry across the potomac. 2$ toll and a really cool stop on my tour.
The plan was to take a victory lap of dc before heading to Rockville and staying with friends but I underestimated the terrain out in wv. Was a blast, looking to get a ride in next week and an overnight trip including the smith island Crisfield ferry may be in order.
Oh and I learned you can't ride bikes on 340, contrary to google maps. So I went into TT mode for A mile onthe shoulder of a highway as I had no other option.
Hope everyone is enjoying the warmth and sunlight while it's here.

I got in some nice "practice"
for 24 HOB this past weekend with Harry and Isaias on Saturday, and Isaias on Sunday -- for me, it was 97 miles / 46 miles. I'm feeling pretty good about the ride; if I don't have another headache this year
I think I *might* be able to make it to 200 miles.Since I'm on an officially-blessed Baltimore Bicycling Club team this year, I suppose I really *should* be good and abstain from mid-ride beers (which have always been against Booty rules.) Now, afterwards . . .

GB, thanks so much for the donation to my 24 Hours of Booty Ride, you're the best!
Team Baltimore Bicycling Club is doing great, I believe we are #5 in the top fundraiser list.

Latest update (just a few minutes ago) from the 24 Hours of Booty organizers:
*******************
The forecast for 24 Hours of Booty continues to develop and is calling for potential high winds, rain and thundershowers at different points over the 24 Hours due to Hurricane Irene. Currently, the storm has tracked back to the west causing a great concern.
We will be working with Howard County Police Department who will advise on the event status. Our goal is to host this event, but not above comprising the safety of anyone. We will communicate any contingency plans to you as soon as we are clear on what resources will be available the event.
The course will close once there is lightning or visibility is impaired to the point it makes it unsafe to ride. We are taking the weather forecast very seriously and have secured additional shelter on the course and have added an additional hydration/safety station on the back of the course . . .
Based on [the current] forecast, the Course Status Level will start at Red/High, which suggests potential for dangerous conditions. This indicates participants should prepare for conditions to diminish during the event. There is a possibility the course could change from red prior to or during the event.
We ask that all participants be prepared for changing conditions by dressing appropriately and pay attention to venue signage and P.A. announcements. Safety is our #1 priority for this event.
**********************
The 2008 Columbia 24 HOB (which would have been the first one held in Columbia) was cancelled because of Hurricane Hanna, which was actually a tropical storm by the time it got to our area. Irene looks potentially far more serious, unless it takes another big jog to the east. We'll see . . .

The Columbia 24 Hours of Booty was cancelled last night. As our team captain Jeff Adler so perfectly put it -- I'm disappointed at not being able to ride, but it was the right call.
