Also, I would add the following streets through the little neighborhood of Orangeville. This is an alternative to Edison highway-- it is all two way, but I am showing Northbound.

Northbound on Haven
X E Monument, becomes Shannon drive
R Ashland
L Kresson
BR Lyon, becomes Macon
L Erdman
R on E Frederal to access Freedomway, Clareway, Sinclair, Shannon, etc..

Might also consider adding this around the canton industrial area...

Southbound on Clinton
X Boston st TRO Clinton
BL onto Keith ave (this is used by high speed traffic to access the tunnel, there's plenty of room and good visibility but admittedly not everyone's dish, still I think its safer than Boston).
BR to enter Broening Highway

It's possible that I won't be able to make even that short ride. :( If I'm not there, have a beer or three for me.

Happy Halloween!

That's a shame. Hope to see you at EM. Charlie

Ok guys, you are going to have to take it easy on me tomorrow after today's ride with DC RAND. We had approximately 8,100ft of climbing. Chuck got the same approximate on his GPS as I did on the iBike (disregerd BiM Active's number which is 1,000ft more  ):

Looking good so far for the short ride! (fingers crossed.)

I rode into work today, and on the way home I decided on impulse to go up Gun Road rather than South/Francis/Selford, etc. Epic FAIL! :D I thought I was going to fall over, so I got off and walked most of the lower (18-20%) portion.

So I'm blaming it on the fact that I was on my steel touring bike, and hauling the full commuting load, and I'm telling myself that things will be better tomorrow on the unloaded Airborne. Of course, the touring bike has lower gearing . . .

Hope to see you there Maxine. You'll do fine.

I've decided to ride to the zoo. VZNavigator says 35 minutes to get there from my house. I'll pad that by 5-10 more minutes, jic. I need to stop at a bank machine for some moola and need to grab a bite to eat, too, so I'll probably be out on the road by 9am.

See you guys soon. BTW, don't look for BBC pink--I'm dressed more like a rando today.

Hey, Barry! Are you coming out to play?

Like you, Bob, and Barry. Just kidding, I hope you guys know.

Let me put it this way--I won't be in full racing kit and I've added 10 pounds of weight to my bike (riding my "commuter") to keep me in check. :innocent:

I'd like to thank Bob and Charlie for a successful 1st Annual Baltimore Pub Ride. It was a good ride with great folks and good beer.

Thanks guys! We need to do it again next year for sure. :thumb:

Barry has pictures. Hopefully he'll have them uploaded and linked soon.

What he said! :) The first Tour de Beer was lots of fun, sorry I didn't have time to do the whole thing.

Thanks to everyone for being so patient with me forever bringing up the rear. I've got the beer-drinking part down, I'll train more for the biking-up-big-hills-at-faster-than-turtle-speed part. :D Also, Charlie -- thanks to your wife for being such a gracious hostess as her home was invaded.

Harry, Trevor, Bob -- it was nice to meet you guys.

Indeed. Thanks to Bob and Charlie for putting it together, Charlie's gracious wife for her hospitality and damned fine chili! The brew was all good, favorite being Charlie's of course (new hobby in my future). The brews at the other two places were okay but the home brew wins out.
The night ride through the city and back up north was pleasant as well.
You guys are hard core, strong as oxen. Looking forward to the next ride. Love that Dogwood hill-twice. Checking out the route on Bikely I can almost feel the burn-twice.
Nice to meet you Charlie (need to hear about your Quebec trip),Maxine,Trevor (Sorry for running into you, and for almost causing a pile up on the Dogwood wall), and the legendary Isaius.

Anybody who puts up those miles and those stats is a legend in my book. I put Crista and Chuck and all those hardcore DC Rand people in the same book.

I think that hill, alone, got him his calorie expenditure for the day. ;)

Yah, I think we should do a time trial up that thing-on fixies. Honestly, don't think I was all the way up on my second climb when I saw Noracer coming back down "other way dude" sheet!

Calories, yah my hrm said like 5k cals for the day which seems excessive for a sixty mile ride. Should have thrown back a few more brews to compensate. I was pretty slow that day, and I won't blame it on my squeaky drivetrain or weighty steed.

Looking at my workout calendar on Mapmyride, looks like more running than biking in Oct. Started remedying that this morning with a brick of sorts, ride in the a.m, run in the p.m.

Fall foliage. Anybody have long ride plan for Saturday?

I'm still waiting to see what Crista and Chuck have in store for their duel-century weekend. If it's too far, I'll probably just ride with the BBC.

NoRacer 11-04-08 10:53 AM

So, Barry, where's your pics of the 1st Annual Pub Ride? Or, was the SD card ruined when the camera got run over?

I don't think I saw any Bal County BBC rides for Saturday.
