I crashed

I crashed
I was running hard out In front of two riders, a motorcycle cop and a Dog handler, I pulled away from them and was ripping hard in the flats.
It was muddy, lots of puddles, my bike was carrying an extra pound or two of mud I think, felt like it.
I rounded a hard left that tightened up to a harder left, then there was mud, then more left turn and a wooden bridge covered in,,,soaking wet green slippery mold.
Front tire went that'away and I went this'away, I sacrificed the bike, DID NOT stick out my hand, I was not gonna break a wrist that day.
I tucked my shoulder and rolled staying on the two foot wide bridge,,, the splash was the bike
I sat up crawled a few feet and recovered my steed, It looked fine, I stood up, both wheels rolled true and the brakes worked. My next thought was the cops were going to hit me on the bridge or chew me out for speeding
I saddled up and pedaled out to the end of that trail never seeing the cops.
I stopped and there was blood, That was like ringing the dinner bell as the mosquito's were there gathering fast and thick. I had repellent on and very quickly slathered on more, as I did they backed off a few extra feet, so many of them I tell ya. I cleaned up up my wound, and repacked the first aid kit in my Camelbak.
Here came those two cops, they had no idea I crashed, As soon as they saw me I said, "It's about Time" and I rode off on the next segment.
I let them catch me, really
One was five years younger than me,, one was 13 years younger, they will get better In time.
It was a great ride

Be careful out there... I fell hard about ten days ago, my surface damage is all healing up fine but my ribs seemed to get worse. I took them to the urgent care this morning for an x-ray but they're not broken, only bruised or strained or something. It's still keeping me off the bike and also keeping me from sleeping.

Sorry to hear about the crash.
You put your foot down when the front and/or rear goes, not your arm. If you can't get your foot out in time, yep, it's perfectly normal and land on your shoulder, hip and outside of your leg.

Had a similar scenario in a CX race last season. Narrow wooden bridge about 40 feet long and 6 feet wide at the bottom of a small muddy hill. There was a tight left turn once you got off the bridge. Bridge deck was plywood, wet and really slick with mud, a condition I experienced on a warm up lap. First lap of the race I held back a little and when the leaders hit that bridge all hell broke loose. Someone in front braked at the far end of the bridge deck to make the left turn, went down, and a dozen guys fighting for the lead got mashed up and stuck in a giant pile of bikes and racers, completely blocking the bridge. The slow pokes ... like me ... that were a little behind, watched all this happen, dismounted and carried bikes across the small creek. Fortunately no one was hurt and everyone eventually got back up and continued racing.
Love mountain and CX bikes as they opened up miles of new trails and gravel roads that were not accessible on my road bike. Unfortunately every once in while a fall or crash is included in that exploration. I'm still nursing a bruise on my hip from a mishap with a large cobble on my favorite trail a week ago and a couple small dents in my shin from where my spikey flat pedals impacted my shin when I broke a chain yesterday.
Regards.

Yeah man, If we ride we bleed and hurt now and then, But man I tell ya, I am addicted...
Was out today, A few miles of flow single track, a few miles of muddy soup crawling (Very Hard) and a few miles of fast flats. I gave everything I had all the way to tank empty In only 8 miles. I cannot get anywhere near this much of a full body workout on my road bike,
No traffic,
No fumes,
No fear if getting crushed by a 2 ton car piloted by a texting fool,
I still say those tree's move
God I love It so !

It's a known fact. Trees on technical trails have been known to move at least a foot. Also, they wait until the last minute, then jump in front of the MTBr. We had videos, but the first one is too fuzzy to see anything clearly, and the second one was destroyed when the camera hit water. One day they'll make a mistake and we'll have our proof, I promise.
