FS Bikes under $2000?

Which bike is good for XC, trails, and just a wee bit road for $2000 and under? I plan to look for a full suspension. I don't know all the good brands out there.

Thanks in Advance.

I've never liked that design. I don't trust a design that forces the shock to be topped out in order to be efficient. You really need a bit of sag in order to follow the terrain smoothly.

If you can go up a little I would check out the Yeti 575 that Zapcod bought. It is the nicest bike I have seen for around $2,000.

I love the design. It pedals like a beast and gives me all the cushion I need on the trail. It really depends on the type of riding you do. Most people WOULD benefit more from a ride like the Giant Trance or the Stumpjumper FSR but if you like to go fast and you will not be doing a lot of jumps then the NRS is a race rocket!

Most people love or hate the bike.

*Note* - This post could contain bias to the NRS since its author is a NRS owner.

I feel the same way about the NRS even though I have never owned one. Just ridden a couple and know a few guys that ride / race them. For their intended purpose they are great bikes.

It's just one of those different strokes for different folks things.

Absolutely, Sadly this is the last year for the Giant NRS though. That is why I made sure I bought mine this year. Giant did not want to keep paying Specialized licensing fees for the FSR suspension so they developed the Maestro suspension. The word is Giant is working up a XC Maestro bike for probably middle '06.

Yep, I checked out the Specialized FSR, and loved it. The Yeti looks really light but looks a kind of plain. The Giant NSR looks alright...

Wow, I think the Yeti is one of the best looking bikes out there. Anyway, just because a bike looks light or plain or beautiful for that matter doesn't mean diddly when it comes to how it performs. Check out www.mtbr.com and read some reviews on the different bikes you are considering. That may help out some with your decision. More importantly if possible test ride as many bikes as possible. That is the best way to make a decision.

I know, but I don't want to spend $2,000 and buy a good bike with same parts, while I can get a nicer bike

Pedallin a stinky on the road would be just a tad more/less tedious than tieing bricks to a bike from Toys R Us.
