Just put together a vid with some footage take during August at Panorama Mountain Resort near Invermere, BC. Enjoy the crash...I know I did!

dminor 12-01-10 02:36 PM

Oh, I know what happened: bet Chris stopped in the middle of the trail just inside the shadow of the treeline

Going to have to get up to Pano. Not that far from here doggonnit.

Hey, footage is working its way west. Hope springs eternal . . . .

never 12-01-10 02:45 PM

Haha, you'd think so but no...the fast line is go wide right and cut left but I went too wide, clipped a branch which sent me into a tree on the other side of the trail. Landed with my right shoulder and hip across those roots. It's still funny watching me stumbling around.

Chris was supposed to bring the footage to Blair's house on the weekend but he didn't show up because he was too "tired". Anyway, I'm going to his place tomorrow night and I'm not leaving until all of the vids are on my laptop! Then I can compile a sweet vid of your crashes...errr, I mean riding!

Daspydyr 12-01-10 05:15 PM

DUDE, I like NASCAR pileups, but there was no enjoying your slamming the earth. Glad you were able to ride away and post about it. I'm kinda thinking there were some ice bags following that hurt!

The rest of the video was great! That is a great trail, don't see many of those down here.

Had a real cinéma vérité look to it. Oooo man, you could tell that one hurt - - you went down 'slapped-down' hard.

Remember to say "I'm OK" next time :D.

The crash was on a different trail that i have been down quite a bit but it was the first time I had been down the trail in the rest of the vid (Crazy Train). And it is a lot of fun! It's just too bad I was slightly dizzy to enjoy it completely.

Ha ha, that was stooopid. Do you always ride on grass?

dminor 12-01-10 11:55 PM

^^ Sometimes the fringe is the fast, smooth line out of the chatter. Have you ever ridden a ski slope trail at speed in the dry of summer?

bamofo 12-02-10 12:12 AM

Is that fancy talk for getting trails closed for being a dirtbag who doesn't respect the trail?

No, I haven't. I'd rather stick to marked trails. Or street. You should try it.

Dannihilator 12-02-10 12:16 AM

You should lose the holier than thou attitude, we're not talking multi-use trails.

Video was taken on a DH trail where line matters and if that line is right on the fringe, then so be it.

owwwwchhhh!

When i was longboarding last summer i ate it bad, got up, walked like 10 feet that sat back down lol..

D, are the trails around Moody similar to that?

dminor 12-02-10 10:45 AM

^^ The ski slope ones at Silver Mountain and Schweitzer Mtn are similar. Not as many built-up wooden stunts as Pano it appears but similar terrain. Most of the stuff at Silver is machine-carved into the landscape utilizing/enhancing the natural features of the terrain; Schweitzer is more rocky and rough-hewn on the black runs and almost too buff on the lesser ones.

Also of note: average run at Silver is 15-20 minutes but takes a 20-minute gondola ride to get back to the top; Schweitzer is 5-10 up for 5-10 down, so you can get a lot more runs in.

Ha! Obviously you haven't ever ridden at a lift accessed resort. They let you ride in the rain too!

Now thoes are lift access places right? When i buy this bike its going to pretty much bust the bank (thats not going to stop my from buying it). I will probley spend most of my time at Beacon Hill to save some money by cutting out lift costs and all that stuff, plus after doing some research it looks like a pretty sweet place to ride.

You remind me of myself when I first got here. Check out the 'Taken for granted...techniques for new riders' thread so you can observe how I made a complete ass of myself, too. It worked out quite well for me.

For someone with a Yoda picture, you sure are lacking in wisdom.

I once slammed the earth and lost consciousness. I woke up dreaming about a girl in high school. It made the whole event worth it, kinda! Sorry, probably TMI!

Are you inferring something about his mental state possibly being impaired. Isn't that what sets MTBing apart from the Roadie world.

(And just a disclaimer, while I joke about getting high, I don't and don't encourage it.)

There's plenty of free stuff for sure - - especially if you hook up with the right people (or even dminor and his friends) for some shuttling other spots too.

For the occasional splurge, Schweitzer is just $25 - - cheaper than Silver and quite a bit cheaper than most of the B.C. resorts.

Thanks for the advice, mom.

New rider? You're funny.

Are you honestly attempting to argue that riding a foot off the tread at a lift serviced mountain aggravates access issues?
