Actually, no. Never been to that spot before. The guy in the other two pics recently started building some trail in there, and "refurbishing" some old trail. The place has some good vert, and huge potential. Other than being slippery as **** when wet.

Granted, it is CT - all the rocks look the same.

dminor 08-06-10 09:36 AM

And of course you know I'm just yankin' your chain. Some year soon, hopefully, I will get to experience the eastern woods in person. Cool pics as always.

Local stuff on tap for today, after running some errands. The lifts at Diablo tomorrow. Something local again Wednesday, before heading back to work.

after some life changing events I needed a ride, so I took off from my new apt and took a tour of Boston hitting The Commons, the harbor at Castle Island, back to The Commons for Shakespeare in the park then "home" again in Natick. It felt good to ride again after a long hiatus. 48 miles was just right. My new commute is ridiculously short so I may be riding to Boston more. Riding on Comm Ave. though is a bit hairy - I need to get my urban commando skills up to speed!

A race on a Friday? Or what's up with the tape?

Nah, tape up for the race there last Sunday. Upper 2/3 or so of the course was open. The whole mountain is very dry/dusty/bad with braking bumps. I stuck with mostly the chunky rock trails for that reason. Well, and I prefer that stuff anyhow. :)

Yesterday and today. Bailed on Diablo for some local pedaling, and less drive time.

The only ride shot from yesterday.

Sycamore Grill bacon cheeseburger and onion rings with a Good Times Dippin' Sauce, carefully hoarded from my last trip out to Colorado.
Saved specially for just such a time of need. Ten miles of pavement, ten of trail. Humid and sweaty hell. This post-ride meal hit all the saltyfattyproteinycarby pleasure centers.

The local beaver have been busy.

Well, someones wife, though not mine. Mine was along that day, but trail running.

Grabbed the full-face and the Leatt and took the Yeti to the new BMX track last night. It was completely exhausting but fun. Run down the start hill was juuuuuust enough to give the sled enough speed to clear the first double. Doing a whole lap on a DH bike left me sucking air something terrible. Pics to come.

Needless to say, more appropriate weaponry is in my future.

This made for nine days in a row with some form of off road ride. Shortest a hair over two hours, longest was five, not counting the long day at Diablo. One long day at Blue with a couple masters class XC race crusty old dudes who put the hammer down and made me work. A couple cross stuntry days. A couple local trail solo fun rides. I'm cooked.

1. Ragged Mtn.
2. Diablo
3. Blue Mtn.
4. Haviland Hollow
5. Huntington pedaled from home
6. Huntington pedaled from home
7. Sprain Ridge
8. Wilton Woods
9. Miller's Pond

That rider is pretty brave to get air on a crack n' fail! :D

I rediscovered some dance moves. Just tooling along this morning when a hiker with 3 dogs lost control. A boxer was given me grief up front and I heard another coming from behind. The hiker was screaming like crazy at the dogs. When the "heeler mix" lunged for my ankle I bailed on to the left, it caused the bike's back end to sweep the dog up the trail. I tip toed down the trail about 5 steps dancing gracefully with my bike. By then the guy gather his dogs up. He was hugely apologetic so alls well that ends well. I'm sure I looked (and sounded) like Fred Astaire. It was a good 16 miles before breakfast. I think I hit a new cardio max. YUP, just whining.

Gee cause no other bike company has ever had any frame failures.

Good thing you don't have to get a rabies shot, those things are massive.

Not any worse than most company's have had now and again. And no, I'm not a C-dale fanboi.

I've seen a lot of broken bikes and frames, from all sorts of makers, and presently ride in an area with a lot of people on C-dale frames - I see way more breakages with other stuff.

Now, I do think their propensity to design in proprietary stuff is a crap idea, but that is a different discussion entirely. I've also broken or cracked two fairly burly steel and two ti hardtail frames. Anything breaks.

Maybe you're right, it just seems they had a lot of trouble in the 90s... hence the nickname.

Of course anything breaks though... if mistreated(haha!) :p

went riding in westwater mesa today, in utah, about 30 minutes from home. fun trail, nothing really technical, about 15 or so miles, we took it leisurely. weather was good, not too hot, a decent breeze now and again. we rode out to the arch, ate, rode back. after the ride we drank beer, screwed around, and came home. a great way to spend a friday afternoon. pics are me on my turner and my buddy tom on his titus.
