Nice! I like how it switches scenes often enough to not lose the viewer's attention span

Yesterday I took a guy around the 24-hour course in Riverside. He'd never done it, and needs to learn the course so he can train (he's going to solo it), so I put him in front and called the turns for him. It could've been faster, but at least it was a steady ride instead of stop-and-go. I hope we can get out there for more training sessions, it's a lot easier to get motivated to go when there's someone to go with. He just bought his first mountain bike and was already riding compotently, so props to him :)

I'm still very new to the sport. I see some of you guys are climbing 2000 feet or more. I climb 200 and hurt bad in the knees and just above them when I do. I hope this goes away with time.

Went for my first 10+ mi ride on yesterday on the new bike. Rode Upper Bidwell in Chico Ca. Had a total blast despite a couple spills. Still getting used to clipless pedals. Anyways climbed over a 1000 feet and felt really good on the whole ascent. On another note used the allsportgps app for the first time and that thing is waaaay cool.

Did about 45miles today, wanted to ride up to the tree/snow line but it started getting pretty cold, then it started hailing and snowing on me so I turned around.

I went out to Riverside and did one lap of the 24-hour course for XC training, except I bypassed Little Vietnam since I heard the rangers want people to wait until the river goes down. Makes sense, I could see the singletrack had standing water in lots of places as I went by.

I had Reflecto-Bike with a trunk bag and two panniers full of laundry, which works out to almost exactly twice the weight of the XC race bike, so it was a good workout. 42 pounds, lots of extra air drag, full rigid, AND two shoes full of water :D I was about 6 minutes off my daytime PR, surprised it wasn't worse.

mechBgon 04-27-11 09:05 PM

Today I went to Riverside again, with Reflecto-Bike again, but left the panniers at home :) Rode with some guys for a while, it was recovery pace for me. But hey, whatever gets me out there burning fat... I was off to a good start early this year, but then slacked off and put on a few pounds.

Spent the morning at Fort Custer Recreation Area. 3 loops of 7 or 8 miles each. I did the easy loop first, followed by the two more advanced ones. I am still new at this and took the easy bypass around some things that I was not sure about. There is a lot of variety, and I enjoy this place more each time I go.

mechBgon 05-01-11 06:44 PM

I got out to Riverside State Park again for more XC training, thinking to do two laps of the 24-hour course. That's the busiest I've seen it yet, there were frequent interruptions, stops and slowdowns for other riders, horses and hikers. A sunny Sunday in Spring, mid-60F temps, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Anyway, I settled on more of an enduro pace, but two laps were enough for my legs at this point in the season, so I moseyed on home.

First MTB race this weekend. Idyllwild Stage Race. Took 4th in my division, which I was happy with considering I've been doing this a couple months. Even got o the podium! I'll post a video later this week of the race.

i went for a bit of a ride on my $10 CCM. it went through the mud fairly good but i ended up having to lift if over a fallen tree that i am almost sure my homemade bike could have made it over. i am hoping the tree will still be there on Wednesday so i can try it again with my other bike.

Hydraulic 05-04-11 06:01 PM

Rode at Bavington and almost got lost. Terrain needed a good cleaning in parts, plus the slick corners didn't help. I noticed that my climbing ability increased a small amount, but I still found myself walking some hills. Overall, it was a good ride and I'll probably be there again this Sunday morning. This time though, I'm going to print out and laminate a map to bring with me. 3500 acres is a large area. very large.

Feather Falls NorCal

Did the Feather Falls ride outside of Oroville in NorCal. Anybody in the Northern California area i would definitely recommend this ride. Its a little over 10miles round trip with some fun quick downhill and a lot of climbing. Climbed about 1800ft. Anyways, Feather Falls i do believe is the 6th highest waterfall in the US. Makes for a great ride and awesome scenery. Wouldn't recommend going on the weekend though due to the trail being clogged with hikers. Lovin my DB mission 2. Floats downhills and eats up the climbs couldnt ask for anything more especially for what i paid for it. All in all a great ride on a great bike :)

Nothing to crazy for me today. I did the river trail here in Lawrence. Got about 3/4 of the way around and busted the RD. No idea why or how but the top pulley is still out there somewhere. Had to walk the to the gravel path that surrounds the trail area and walk about a mile back to the car. Still I'd rather be out and break down than not be out at all.

Today was the 5th day back riding the pump track. Man does it feel good to get back on the dirt.

Appologies for it being choppy, it's a bar mount that I made. Going to refine the design with something to dampen the shocks.

Eli on a fun roll. After the bottom, goes into a short uphill rock skinny onto a big rock slab. Fun, but ya' gotta line it up right.

Me, at the default trails. About 12' top to botom, short, steep, with an abrupt transitoion area with trees you need to miss. tight corner around a tree to get lined up on the top. Am usually riding here solo, and have always skipped it - Eli was with me today, so finally got it. This is the second go around, for the pic.
