Just thought I'd post these pics up, I took them on Sunday
This spot is a favourite of mine. Bit of a climb to get there, but it's worth it. If you get it on a clear day, there's a really nice 360-degree view to enjoy. http://www.ihasaids.com/upload/data/1257774096.jpg http://www.ihasaids.com/upload/data/1257746931.jpg http://www.ihasaids.com/upload/data/1257752793.jpg http://www.ihasaids.com/upload/data/1257748966.jpg http://www.ihasaids.com/upload/data/1257785555.jpg http://www.ihasaids.com/upload/data/1257817561.jpg http://www.ihasaids.com/upload/data/1257802370.jpg http://www.ihasaids.com/upload/data/1257812379.jpg |
14.34 miles out Horizon Ridge to Sloan Canyon. Went out as the sun was coming up, beautifll start to the day. Appreciated the "layers" with the "moisture wicking properties" I learned about in a previous BF thread. KUDOs to the Lycra Lizard on a Giant Carbon Fiber who dusted me with a friendly, Morning, left side. Its one thing to get passed, but I had to check and make sure my chain wasn't broken or something. OH to be thin again.

The new ride is sweet. The 70mm stem is just a touch long on that frame (slightly longer TT than the Peyto) so I may toss the 50mm I have hanging around on for comparison. With my luck it'll feel best in between and I'll have to pick up a decent 60mm.

Keylow, Pukemaster, and myself had a good spin over at Miller's Pond today. I think the two of them got a pic or two of me as well; have to wait and see what they shot.

Sullivan Canyon "Reloaded!"
For SoCal riders that are familiar with Sullivan Canyon trail in the Santa Monica Mountains, the Gas co. had closed it for about 3 months to repair and cover exposed gas lines. This also resulted in the entire 4.5 miles of single track being bulldozed and graded!
This was my second ride there since it reopened last week. I did the 9 mile rounder, which still has beautiful views, and lots of tree shade. If you look around you'll still find some good drops, and other stuff to have fun with...including those concrete mats! This short video may give you a pretty good idea of what it's like now:thumbsup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjsQtSdavDw |

Had a good ride until I heard a familiar sound that seems to be common for me this year. Snap.

Wait.... |
Had a great time riding with my 5 YO yesterday. He found a steep hill he wanted to ride down, and since it was grassy and he was wearing helmet, pads and gloves, I decided to let him. It was quite a sight to see him barreling down, training wheels and all, with a huge smile on his face. He wobbled once or twice, but kept it upright all the way down. I was so proud of him, and he had so much fun, that we ended up walking up the hill and going back down many more times. He fell a couple times, and even hit a stump hidden in the grass and caught some air once, but got right back up without fuss and kept going.

Got in a good ride with the Hambone. Helmets were uesd on this ride. We'll be in Pisgah on Bennet or Butter Gap on Sunday. Sunny and 71f is the weather man says........Pin it.

I had an adventure yesterday. I was planning to do some urban stuff with my friend after I got off work, and soon as I left I wanted a dramatic exit. I planned to start pedaling inside, push the door open, and then go down the stairs outside. It didn't work as planned. I hit the door too hard, it went open fast, came back and hit me, Then I lost balance and almost went off a 3 foot drop into a car. Then we had our ride.

 dork
|
Yeah well..
Today I rode home from work. It was thrilling. AND my dramatic exit worked flawlessly. |
14.44 miles to Cholla loop. New trail to me, lots of climbing. Tomorrow I will take to downhill around the mountain to who knows where?
|
Went on my first true trail ride for weeks this morning. I wish I had more time.
|
this is a little old but i rode here with MEGA cacti. singletrack lined with these bad boys.

**** that I hate cactus needles!!! I ended up in one of those bad boys once and it was painful!!!! Some thorns are like hairs you can see them but you sure feel it if you touch one in your arm or leg.
|
haha ya, my brother ran into a patch like this one time in the dark. We were picking needles out of him for weeks.
|
cacti patches look like a horrible idea to have next to trails.
anyway, i've upgraded from rigid to hartail and i just wanna freakin kiss the bike when we get to the end of a trail, what a difference a stupid front suspension makes. yesterdays ride was my favorite yet. |
I rode for 20 minutes today. It was too muddy - didn't want to mess up the trail. Plus my bike ended up weighing 42 pounds when I got home and weighed it. Lots o mud. Shoes weighed just under 5.
|
Was supposed to be nice and sunny but nooo it knew I had 2 days off starting tomorrow and a down pour rolled in. Pretty sure all the trails will be closed in the morning.
