It's definitely not impossible that they knew of a good set of stairs or something, but the trails down where they were coming from are in the first county that's no longer considered a part of the Atlanta metro area, & is the first part of 'bum****' But who knows, maybe they were pros working on a movie & they saw a spot & just had to get footage of it.

Hi all, I guess this is my re-intro post as I dont think I've posted anything here for the last few years. I got a series of self-shuttled downhill runs in today at the local spot (think mini moab), basically just rode some of the downhills from my normal XC loop. I got a rough gopro video of some less than amazing riding on one of the trails, sorry about the angle, I plan to go out and shoot a better video tomorrow when I have more time.

Wait a min...you're on a Shadow, right? Edit: Not a ride from today, but I thought some of you might find it...um...entertaining? Friend following me on Silky Johnson at Sol Vista http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqJyT...eature=related |
Guarantee'd 1hr of Urban every Tuesday. My kid is doing art classes downtown. I get to take her and my bike. Leave the car parked and go urbania.
Found some fun drops to flat (almost powder) dirt. Nice soft landing. Exploring urban is fun. Just go wherever and have as much fun as your creativity allows. |
Run from security guards... haha! AT your age??
|
I take a different approach to security guards...I respectfully do what they say...then stand around and shoot the breeze with them. More often than not...they realize I'm just some Dad out there jumping off crap...not causing trouble...then they tell me to have a good time and don't get hurt...letting me ride their property anyway.
At the place that I was jumping this retaining wall...there was a black guy in a white security SUV rolling up on me. He assumed I was some punk kid. Fuzz: "Hey." Me: "Hey man." Fuzz: "Where do you work?" (this is a large complex with lots of development Co's) Me: "What?" Fuzz: "Which company out here do you work for?" Me: "Ahhh, man...I work in the city. I'm just out here playin'." Fuzz: "Well you're gonna have to leave." (this was where he was expecting some resistance...I could see it in his face) Me: "Alright, man. No problem...have a good one, man." Fuzz looking a little perplexed: "Well...I don't think anyone would notice you out here anyways. Have fun, man. Take it easy." Me: "Yeah man, you too." 20yrs ago...I would'a been a punk about it. I would have been on a skateboard too...but I would have pissed him off just for fun. edit: After reading through that dialogue...I don't think we said the word "man" quite that much. I don't remember the situation resembling a scene from Dazed and Confused...as the dialogue suggests. |

Put the KM to the test a few days ago.......from 14,110' to 6,412'. I can now state that that trail put me just outside my 29HT's comfort zone. (especially when I tried to shadow my smooth-riding DH buddy on his Gonad) Still had a Bl'ast!! :thumb: http://img802.imageshack.us/img802/4...rrtrail096.jpg photo by boomerbaird |
I'm trying to decide if you made my day, or ruined it...but I'm so stoked you posted these.:thumb: Got any more?
|
Lubes, holy crap man! I wish that first picture was widescreen so I could use it as my background! Or maybe the second...it's hard to decide. Needless to say, everything about that post was perfect. Definitely made my day, in a bittersweet way though. Keep 'em coming!:thumb:

Went out to Landahl today...had a killah time on the Komodo with a crappy phone pic to prove it...
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...Untitled-1.jpg After riding the Parker almost exclusively for the last few months, the Komodo feels different...roomier, more nimble, less of a limousine and more of a straight up XC ride. The 2:1 Parker running the Domain at 160mm really makes me feel the shortcomings of the hardtail on rough terrain. It makes the PIKE feel like less than 140mm as well. It does what it does really well, but the Parker really makes me want a Heckler for general trail riding. That said...it slays the Parker on flat, twisty singletrack and climbs. It feels like a rocket with every pedal stroke. Still very flickable and easy to get in the air. |
If there are any Massachusetts XC people on here I highly recommend riding Duxbury. North Hill Marsh is an amazing course with many miles of great single-track and technical roots/rocks. Check out my blog for more details. Plenty of pics too.

Been riding alot of technical rocky singletrack in PA. Not really my style but I was really digging it!......then I ate S*** and lost my oakleys.....talk about throwing salt in the wound

My first real single track ride today (was ridiculously nice outside, for once). The Hardrock performed well. Had tons of fun. Took my GoPro along for the ride.

Shakedown ride on the '01 Blizzard today... installed some new Nevegals yesterday and went and found some single track in the valley to see how the bike rolled out on the new sneakers and how my busted up ass rolled out on the bike.
My physiotherapist has been doing some amazing work on the back and he said to exploit the good days so who am I to argue ? Forgot how f'ing amazing this bike is (it has been a while) and felt like I had a little bit of that old flow back... am looking forward to Monday as I hope to get out for 20-30 km and re-familiarize myself with some of the trails I used to nearly live on. Figure my physiotherapist can straighten me out on Tuesday... :D |
Cool beans! I know I loved mine (was an '04) while I had it...rode great and climbed like a goat!
I hit trail for the first time in months today, was having a blast on my old regular (pre-house fire/move regulars) trails fo rthe first half. You know how a trail changes from year to year,or even season to season? Well, there was this new-to-me low hanging fallen tree (about 1' in diameter) about forehead (while riding) height that I didn't see until a nano-second before hitting it (around 20-22 MPH),I didn't have time to duck, just to look down to (literally) save face. A couple hours of dazed and disoriented, split helmet (that I apparently left on trail),and an ER visit (with an ER that's familiar with my spinal injuries/issues,thankfully) came later. I was riding alone (on trails I helped maintain,so I know them...you know, except the new features over the last few months I've been away,LOL) since my old friend had to bail due to his daughter being pretty sick...I was driving alone too,to the ER and the 2+ hours to home. Best part? I was wanting a new helmet anyways. Worst part? NOT fun after that nano-second,LMAO! Mild concussion, and aggrivated the old spinal injuries,in addition to "knocking some things out of alignment...that is,your alignment" which ain't none to straight anyways. Ah well...it happens :D |
Rode Whistler with my son on Saturday (closing weekend). Day was cool and damp, trails were less than optimal but what can you say? It's Whistler - - so everything was still perfect. Rode the gondola up to the top of Whistler Peak (above Garbanzo) and had 4-6" of snow down the first 500' of elevation. What a hoot. Got my derailleur ripped off on Freight Train/No Joke second-to-last run of the day, so had to finish the mountain chainless. Then went back up and got in one last, chainless run down A-Line. Son took off his chain too so we could have a bit of 'chainless race' to the bottom. Fantastic day.

My son finishing our teams second to last lap, 24 hours of Moab. |
Got in a quick 5'ish after work today. Komodo...rockier than crap...this place really has no flow.
