Yep. Was it a muddy mess?

scrublover 02-19-12 07:31 PM

Got myself over to Ninham this afternoon.

Deliberation - there area couple lines once off the bottom - which one today?

Managed to hook up with a couple buddies for the latter half of things.

New brakes - there were a couple terrifying moments while they were still bedding in. Threw on some skinnier meats as well. A touch less grip than I've become accustomed to, but sooooooo much faster rolling. I think they'll stay on the hardtail for now.

Only a few spots on S side, most of it was all-good.

But Red Rock Canyon in CS is bone dry & brought a huge smile to my face.
Definitely gonna be spending some time down south this year.

Had a great time cruising around some trails yesterday. Until my bars finally caught one of the beaver cages wrapped around tree trunks...........went down kinda hard, but had to laugh! I was warned, and was being careful about them, they were painted the same color as the bark.....

My riding partner for the day bailed, so just me and Ty Mer.
Had brought the big bike to do some shuttle/tower side runs, but not something I do solo, so it was just pedal and play today. Stopped for a nice mid-ride beer.

Finally ran a GPS at my local spot. Squeezed 11mi out of my local trail. Rode everything that's there, minus a short connector. Overlapped one small area to get to another.

So basically, I can fit in 11mi of singletrack otw home from work w/o getting bored.

More dry dirt exploration in the Springs

Now the fun stuff begins: 2,000' down in 6 miles w/very little ups thrown in. :D

I rode XC trails over on the South Hill bluff after work with a couple guys tonight. My legs were a bit tired from a hammerfest on Saturday, a brisk ride on Sunday, and two on Monday. But most of tonight's ride wasn't too intense, except for one super-steep climb (peaks over 35% grade) where I dabbed on the first section (grrr!).

Anyway, conditions were excellent, we found just a couple places with a bit of ice remaining and the rest was moist trails in the process of freezing for the night.

Studded tires would have been real nice today.

Eerie indeed!

One does not simply ride their bike into Mordor!

Found a cool little trail while just doing some exploring yesterday (since it was amazing outside, unlike today). Really tight, uneven singletrack. Wish it were longer though. I'll get the gopro out next time the weather's good.

scrublover 03-09-12 05:42 PM

Bunch of good riding the last couple days, few pictures. Blue Mtn. on Monday. Wilton Woods Wednesday. Ninham Thursday. Millers Pond today. Ninham again tomorrow, before work the rest of the weekend.

Need to hit a 'real' trail now to see if I got the fork set up correctly.

This looks a lot like the horse trails along the American River bike train here in Sacramento. It fun riding and a good work out to stay within such tight tracks....... Fun stuff!

ESW116 03-12-12 02:27 PM

Yeah. Because there's literally millions of small trees lining the trails here, it's a real balancing act. I like it.

craigcraigcraig 03-12-12 03:40 PM

looks sweet lubes!
