Scrub, sounds like your RD is squeaking.

Crappy cell phone picture of a rock garden on my local trail. Some of those rocks are sticking up more than a foot, with soft, shifty dirt in between. Somewhat hard to ride, but lots of fun. coming towards the camera (downhill) is far easier than the climb up it.

Wow, I just went on an awesome ride.

Did some cross country, found some new tracks, was heaps of fun. :D

I went yet another different route yesterday. It seems that for every route I try I find 5 other different paths to pursue next time. I had a lot of fun, my confidence increases the more often I go. The ground wasn't as loose as last time either which helped a lot.
I was 2 hours total, but only biked for about one hour, I came down a fairly steep slope to a grassy field. The sun came out and I lay there for about an hour just enjoying to be in the middle of nowhere.

I need to start bringing my camera with me more. :)

We biked 75 miles over the holiday weekend on the Little Miami Scenic trail. The details and pics are in our blog.

Since we both have a vacation day today, we are going to check out the mountain bike trails at East Fork State Park.

One of these days we'll be on the same trail at the same time... when you see me... make sure you throw something at us... if you don't mind ... make sure you hit her though!

I'll do that if I can, but Your down in Cincy and Im up here in Dayton, so it's a bit unlikely

Bummer... we just got back from the bike shop. I had issues with my rear hub while we were at East Fork today and had to get some work done.

Since I live about half way between Cincy and Dayton, we still have a chance of catching each other on the trail sometime! :thumb:

That's the same with me.

When I find new tracks, I always seem to up my confidence while riding them :)

I also need to start taking a camera with me.

We tried two different bike rides today, but I think I'm riding a haunted bike... LOL

Never mind, we ended going up to Momba. Great ride, but I could not get into a good rhythm. On the flowy sections I was hitting my petals around bends and knocking my my handle bars against trees, and on the tecky sections I was falling over, always in the wrong gear, and losing traction. My worst perfomance ever (I honestly did better when I was 13, riding a full rigid, and on my first singletrack ever :notamused: ). Still, even on a bad day, singletrack beats road.

Got caught in a rainstorm out on the trail yesterday. Don't know why that's so much fun but I love it. Only problem was my window was down in my truck so I had to book it up the last hill to the parking lot to try to save anything inside from getting soaked.

Anyways. Good ride yesterday. Rode 21 miles on the road (first road ride ever on a new fixed gear I got for commuting to campus) on Monday and was feeling a little stiff at the beginning of my ride but that quickly went away and the rest of the ride was awesome. I almost hit a turtle... seen a lot of those out lately for some reason.

Anyways, another good ride yesterday (is there any other kind?). Anyone in these forums in or around Greenville, SC?

As long as the trails still doing ok, I love riding in the rain; however, riding in a thunderstorm with hail is not fun.

Yea I was glad we got in yesterday before the rainstorm turned into a lightning storm. It got crazy about 45 minutes after we stopped riding and there was lightning everywhere.

Riding with hail is something I'd like to do ONE time. Just for the funny story. Man that would suck.

Went on our LBS' Wed. night group ride last night - - about a 20-mile or so ride through Riverside State Park. We had a fairly mixed group last night, so the pace was a bit more relaxed - - a good thing since it was high 80s/low 90s temp and I was riding my Blindside. When trail-riding the heavy bike, I like riding sweeper position; gives me an occasional breather and I can wait for the others to clear the bottom of the descents before I careen down them :).

Anyway, we started about 6 pm and weren't back at the shop until dusk (close to 10). A lot of good ups and downs; there was only one real steep climb that totally schooled me pushing my 38/26 gearing combo. The rest I cleaned or at least got as far or farther than most of the XC/clipless pedal crowd. Good fun.

Last night I decided to ride my local trails. Given that I live in the city these trails aren't much to write about but they were about a km or two of trails I can enjoy through some wooded areas close to my home. Well, last night I went looking for my trails and found a huge area clear-cut to make way for a new train station and an extension of a boulevard. My local trails are effectively no more. I have a very short 300m loop I can do with short, steep climbs but my longer rides are over with. :(

C Law 07-10-08 10:06 AM

that blows man.

Bummer. Although new construction means dirt piles. Grab a shovel and make the best of it.

Dirt piles? Shovel? You forget I'm a city-slicker, elitist, XC snob.
