Due to mud, I rode the SS on a paved path with a 3x9 guy...the cadence I was sustaining on the long/mild hills was about to make me vomit trying to keep up with the dude's 44t
|
Found out my limit for distance when riding road with my legs. 150 miles today.
|
Sorta typical KS singletrack (sorry...phone pic's)

I can't wait until I get a 17 setup so I can slow down a bit on some of these tech'y climb'y sections. |
Wow......got rocks?
|
Yeah really where was that?
|
Shawnee Mission Park (near Kansas City, KS)
Perry looks identical though...only longer. Farlington is the same way...but only 7 mi of it. Mansion is only like that in a few places. LRT is a joke in comparison. |
Hey, I live 4 miles from SMP! And if you want rocky, you should try Kill Creek in between Lawrence and KC. It puts everything else in the area to shame.
|
I rode with Ed's Nemisis, Rick yesterday. Man this kid has skeelz, ****, rode 12 miles of the most rocky tech in northeast ks. and He never missed a step. Rode the entire 12 miles clean! Heck I never made it around that loop clean, and Iv'e ridden it a lot more than this kid. It was great watching him work.

Don't forget that Ricky's rollin' a 1x9 and the rest of you ladies were pimpin' double-deuces.:thumb:
Yeah...Ricky's a lil beast. He's like 150# of lean muscle. He works construction and taught Tai Kwan Do (sp?) for years. He recovers fast enough to have 100% energy for every tech section. He truly is a joy to ride with...and he'll hand you your az$, hahaha! Regarding the rocks...I chuckle @ the guys that "need" FS for their groomed trails with roots here and there. This is like the perfect place for an Epic or Anthem for XC. Rolling 7mi of rock garden can get old. Still doesn't hold a candle to a real trail in some place like CO or BC. |

holy crap, talk about a rough ride lol
|
I did 10-11mi of Mansion on the single speed today. Pretty climby. I really felt invincible for some reason. I did 90% of it standing up. I even did that stinkin' long service-road climb...I thought I was gonna vom after that one.
Never had to get off and walk though. It's funny how I think I'm gonna get burned out at the top of a climb with that thing, but when I get there...I still have enough gas left to keep going and still recover. All that positive power crap...every ounce of downward force on the crankset is going straight to power instead of getting sucked up with suspension...heck man, I dunno. (I didn't do any of the back section, B2B...but I did all the SSG loop 2x forward and 1x reverse) |

Sunflower State Games...but I just spit out my banana :roflmao:

Are you racing this year Ed? Harlan's in shape for it but he's into the gravel rides, so he'll probaly do the death ride.
|
Heck no...I'm gonna enjoy myself this year! (this means I'm not in shape:lol:)
I'm tired of lap times and same ol' crap over and over. I also told the SSG squad last year how disapointed I was when the race commish didn't use his resources (locals who know every inch of the Mansion) to design a great course that could be doable by all levels and still challenging to the Experts. He also didn't seem to want any help on race day. Then he ended up messing up the times again 2 yrs in a row. Giving out gold medals to silver winners. The silvers had enough class to return the gold when they realized what happened. 'Could have been so much better. Nope indeed...I'm just riding.:thumb: |
40 road miles today.
