well i ate cr2p today after we built a new jump, 3 feet high 6 foot long table top, but me and my friend had some fun and i eventually cleared it , ow ya the wether was around 70 and cloudy. Hit some trail later. forgot to mention, we made the jump in a dried out pond or watever it is and made water run ways, took a long time but it was worth it, and ive been biking for about 3 weeks. just wanted to share so over all had some fun.

Did the Gravel conspiracy Ride yesterday. I didn't ride the whole 110 miles because I didn't get enough seat time in before the ride. The terrain was very similar to the Flint hills death ride but it wasn't July temps.
Mostly this was a training ride for the cyclocross crowd getting ready for the Dirty Kansa, And the five of us trail riders looked much out of place at the start line. But the cyclocross crowd was friendly, and even had beer and bbq at Joshua Stampers house afterwords. I cut off about 30 miles total and wound up with an 80 mile beat down. One of my friends who got in the endless time on a trainer to prepare, actually represented and finished the whole ride with a 13.7 avg, even getting back before some of the cross riders. |

I was sicker'n a dog too. (Head Cold or something)
All I did was ride to work 2 times:lol: |
Joshua Stamper rode the course two days before on a SS cross bike with 42/18 gearing and finished in 7 hours and change. But you should of seen the K-State team riders the day of the ride, I cut 22 miles off the top end and was immediately passed as soon as I was back on the course. I figured them for about 6 hours. Not good by road standards but for the mud and dirt roads of the flint hills and bucking a 25 mph headwind the first 35 miles, I was pretty impressed with the talent.

Trails here are still in poor shape, muddy and/or too soft to ride. I have only got out on proper dirt once this year before yesterday. But, after a workday we made the drive up to Kettle Moraine South in Wisconsin for some damn good times. It was an awesome way to kick off the season and am heading back again this weekend. I flew by this and had to stop and go back for a picture :)

Got out today for my "Tuesday Night Ride" b/c I'm gonna be busy tomorrow night. Trails were pretty muddy. I rounded a corner and my left hand smacked a branch...threw me off hard. Felt my spine pop in like 8 places. (that actually kinda felt good)
Mosquito's were the worst I've seen. I stopped to answer my phone and I thought I'd gotten into a thick swarm of gnats...until they started biting. I hadn't seen skeeters swarm like that...dadgum! http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...e/DSC03541.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...e/DSC03542.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...e/DSC03543.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...e/DSC03545.jpg After I cleaned the bike up and lubed the chain, I rode up the street to dry off the brakes'n'crap...I circled back around toward a 40'ish deg hill that's only about 20-30'long. I downshifted, locked out the Float, gripped my wide-az$ bars, threw it into GNAR-MODE and... http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...e/DSC03546.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...e/DSC03547.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...e/DSC03548.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h2...e/DSC03549.jpg I thought I broke my chain, but I looked down and all I saw on the end of my crank arm was 1/2 of my spindle and some leg hair and skin.:notamused: I have ManCalves.(I guess) "Right turn, Clyde!" http://www.smh.com.au/ffximage/2006/..._470x342,0.jpg |
Here's what a complete spindle looks like:

thanks for that, looks like it just slipped off to me haha

-- I put up more vids and pics in my german report thread.

Just went for a ride at the local hidden place with some guys I know (who built the place). They showed me this little DH run with a super steep woop-de-do that has a big natural table top (for those of you who know what it is, think Super Booter, only on a much smaller level with the jump being much rougher)

I'm playin hooky - to nice to be couped up behind a desk today, gonna meet up w/ a ridin bud and hit Quebec Run for the afternoon.
edit - just got back, boss didn't catch me skippin out and it was an awwsome day on the trails! Does anyone else play hooky from work in the middle of the week to go riding? This is about the 4th time this spring to cut out... this pic is back at the truck after the first out-n-back http://i675.photobucket.com/albums/v...bikekey002.jpg |
I play hooky four days out of five. Except I don't call it hooky. It's more like an hour or two to think big thoughts, clear my head and come back to the office fully engaged in the task at hand...goofing off on the Internet say, or having lunch.
Anyway, it is not hooky if you don't get caught. TS |
Lucky, If I skip my job... people can die...
=( |
^Lucky you Reb.
I know what you mean, I'm retired USAF - now I'm sitting behind computers writing tech manuals, boring but keeps me employed. So anyway, it's a beeeutiful day out and I'll be riding by noon! |
Yea, I just got hired on as a "federally employed" Life Guard.
But I guess it is better than sitting at a desk, especially in my youthful age, lol. |

Its hard calling out sick on nice days at a bike shop, since everyone knows the real reason you called out. thats why if its kinda slow, we'll close for a few hours. Some local trails are a few miles away, so a long lunch ride is easy to pull off. |
Rode seven out of the last eight days. All different spots. Most excellent. Now back to work for the next few nights. Should be fun - "hey ya'll, watch this/hold my beer" season has started.

Damn Scrub, That's awesome!
|
as always scrub i am insanely jealous.

I've been stoked all week, dry weather, 85 degrees, man the trails will be dry for memorial day
weekend! Damn, went to lake Clinton north shore trails this morning and it was muddier than I've ever seen it. Had to wade across a frickin creek 2 miles in cause I wasted enough gas this year just to turn around. |
Got out for 3 hours on the mtb today, rested, laid low and left at 5 for 20 miles on the fixed gear.
