Bikes: Bike Count: Rising.

Got the first goal of 2006 done today, a solo unsupported all mountain century 8 and a half hours later I arrive to find a few boxes, most of them from michelin. Put a set of all mountains on the Kona, and decided to see what it weighed in at. Couldn't believe my eyes, when the bikes weight came to be 30 pounds(29.9 pounds exactly.)

Bikes: Bike Count: Rising.

To put in rookie terms.

Did a century on the dirt.

Weighed bike for the first time since changing the fork, pedals and tires, came in lighter than expected.

In other words he did a 100 mile mountain bike ride. Which is a pretty big accomplishment for what it's worth.

Yea, it is a big accomplishment. Even 100 kilometers on dirt kills me, on a geared, and a much lighter bike.

Kona, how heavy was your bike before?

Congrats on meeting your goal, and what a goal it is. 100 miles is a long way, most people probably couldn't ride 100 road miles on a 17lb road bike.

Man, 100 miles is a crapload, I rode 60 kilometres on my Hardrock and was shaking after the ride and felt bad and ill and tired for the next two days.

160 km in 8.5 hours - that's almost 19 km/h! Holy crap - were you drafting behind a pack of stampeding cattle? Most of the long rides around here involve too much climbing to allow for a pace that fast. What sort of terrain were you on?

I did it at Round Valley with the Cushetunk extension. The weight was around 38 pounds.

Bikes: old school Giant Attraction MTB (where it all started),old school Schwinn High Plains MTB (XC and long ride duty), Mosh DJ3 (BMX basher), and Trek Bruiser 1 (freeride and full of mods and still growing)

that is good, amazing actually, the furthest i've ridden is 42 miles and that was enough.

Without sitting down. Pretty good indeed.

So Kona, what are some of your other goals? Backflip tailwhip? 24 hr solo? 100 foot drop?

I sat at times for this one.

No desire to do a backflip tailwhip, or a 100 foot drop.

A solo 24 hr is one of the goals. The solo century goal was a feeler for the 24 hour goal.

Been training for it since mid December, so I was prepared for the miles easily.

That pic was taken today. It was raised for yesterday. I want to get a gravity dropper for the bike now.
