I actually already thought of that and went and checked my spare wheel stash. The only rim brake compatible wheelset that I have is a front, which does him no good.

I would risk my Fly in his hands but that would be a distinct disadvantage for him. I'm loathe to trust him with my Hakkalugi since I doubt his ability to handle drop bars and skinny tires off-road, even on the tame stuff.

Letting him use my 5Spot would mean that I would ride either the 42lb Fly or the very light and fast Hakkalugi...hmmmm.

How can that possibly be true? On Friday you claimed that your rim was unridable/unfixable.

I'll keep scrounging around and try to find a rear wheel that can be loaned.

Pheard 02-27-06 04:51 PM

Yea got my rim trued a 3rd time on saturday I mean. With which I rebent it outta whack, I didn't even do anything too terrible to it. I suppose I can deal with the rain, but that doesn't really help with the rim and tread.

Pheard 02-27-06 04:55 PM

I could go back and try to have it trued again. But its makes the metal weaker and weaker everytime I bend the rim in the same spot and then bend it back again.

here is the bike in question, looks fine to ride.

What's your dropout spacing? I might have a wheel.

to the original question of the OP:
Wish I could say I stop all the time. There was only once I didn't stop. As I was passing the riders up, I asked the usual "You OK?". I could have sworn their reply was "Got Pot?". I found out from one of my slower friends that they said "got tube?". Think I'm turning into my dad...

mtnbiker66 02-27-06 06:06 PM

Getting back to helping people......... on Sun. I broke a chain and was starting to make repairs when a group of 5 rode by and not one ask if I needed help. I had it under control but a " need anything" would have been nice. I would hate to leave someone on the trail stranded.

Be carefull with that if using rim brakes. I've had the rim edge split and peel off. The rim gets thinner with use. The rim had been straightened a few times.

jeff williams 02-27-06 07:05 PM

Why don't you meet, Hank brings a bike and do it by stopwatch.
Bring xtra rider\s to do a follow\official.

That way it's not gear -it's the rider.

Then you need a walkie talkie system .

Pheard 02-27-06 07:25 PM

I dont think he would entrust one of his bikes to me.

Again, this has nothing to do with that. This is about the claim to own someone on a climb while sporting dorky upright bar ends.

The bike / rider challenge, well, that's another thread altogether...and it involves a downhill in NC, cash money and a kid's Wal-Mart bike.

Pheard 02-27-06 07:40 PM

The "dorky bar end" thing is kind of pointless because I allready changed them to the correct position awhile ago. Its not really particularly about that, its about both of us proving our ends of claims we made. Me that I can win a race, and him that he can ride a rigid down the crack.

What's very funny is that you've morphed a comment about me seeing guys rail the crack on rigid bikes to "show me someone riding it on a rigid/short travel bike" (which I did in a linked video) to I need to prove to you that I can ride the Crack on a rigid bike.

I have no problem hitting the Crack like that but your distortions are pretty funny.

Ah yes, that fruitloop "Killer B":

"I'm not the least bit afraid to bet that I can, quite easily,
win a race against 90% of the people who read this forum
while riding my daughter's Next 21-speed I bought her from
Wal-Mart for less than $100.

I wonder how many other's on here would be willing to bet say, $1000?

Have a nice time riding whatever bike you choose to own & F### ALL those
who make fun of you or your bike.... Their bubble will quickly pop when they
meet my type of rider on the mountain, trust me...."

---Bet is increased to $2,000---

"Bet's still on though. Who knows, you may be one of the 10%, but I doubt it...."

"I'm not really gonna race against any of you people just to prove my point. You know as well as me, that I would easily win...."

Pheard 02-27-06 08:09 PM

Hey buddy, I've mentioned the short travel/rigid bike thing at least 5 times in this thread.

I said you should physically come show me on the trail. Why not?
(im referring to the rigid on the crack thing, which I was implying everytime I said come show me skills)

You replied:
See above kid, the offer still stands.

I said:
Come show me the crack on the rigid(or on my bike), or don't even bother posting again.

You replied:
As far as showing you in person, which part of "I would be happy to meet you at Sanchez School" or "Let me know where and when you want to have your climb off and I'll be there, as long as I'm in town" are you struggling with?

I didn't morph anything.

mcoine 02-27-06 08:15 PM

Hey can someone post a picture of the "crack". that video was not accessible, and I would like to see how tough it is.

You certainly did but like I mentioned, I'm only amused.

Now, am I supposed to find a rigid bike to bring or is your idea to have me show you how to ride your bike on different sections of the Crack? I assume that you'll be able to safely walk my bike down the Crack? HAve you had someone properly adjust your cantis or should I be prepared to get them in working order before jumpimg on your bike?

I found a loaner wheel (from my wife's bike) but unfortunately is not 7 speed. The search continues.

A single picture can't show the trail.

The videos are accessible but you might have to cut and paste the URL into the browser window to bypass the anti-leeching measures that are in place.

**nof3ar, pay attention to the rider with the white helmet and white shirt. There's your "short travel" example. He's riding a hardtail with a 4 inch fork.

In my pre knee injury days I could have given you a serious run for your money, haven't been the same since late 2004. Might be able to with DH and DS, but I'm not one for racing anymore, so no challenge here.

Is that aimed at "Killer B" (who I quoted making the 90%/Wal Mart bike claim) or me?

If it's aimed at me we could just call it even on the knee surgery front. I haven't been the same since I severed my ACL/PCL/MCL/LCL and tore up a bunch of my medial meniscus, 20 years ago.

LowCel 02-27-06 08:47 PM

NoF3ar, I would imagine that Pete would be willing to hook you up with a tire for the race. This way all you have to worry about is having the wheel trued. You are going to have to have it trued eventually anyway.

Hmmmmmm, I remember something about that. :roflmao:

It's toward you. Drove me crazy during the time I was off the bike.

I remember the depot store bet, I remember saying for it to be moved to Tuna Canyon.
