BMC Fourstroke?
I'm thinking of buying a BMC Fourstroke 03 and am looking for feedback. Does anyone out there have any experience with them? I'm replacing an old hardtail Lightspeed Obed and ride a lot of Colorado Mountain passes and intermediate single track. Another option in a Blur, but I'd have to order it, and Santa Cruz is notorious for taking months to fill orders.

well, it has a dw_link on it. go to mtbr and the iron horse forum there for reviews on the suspension design. i have never sat on a dw bike, nor a bmc, but i have heard good things about them both (for whatever that is worth). a guy on mtbr got himself a superstroke to review, but the review is still pending, so..
there is not much available feedback on bmc mountain bikes on the forums i dont think, but as far as their reputation goes, the build quality should be good. and as far as the suspension design goes, well go see the iron horse forum.
here is a link to the pending superstroke review, if you scroll down (after taking enough time to drool over those pics
) you will see this guy who is pretty psyched about the bike and is thinking on buying the fourstroke trail, which is the same frame as the fourstroke 3, just adjusted with a little more travel.

i hope you are going to be able to sit on the bike before you buy it? if you are, be sure to get your butt back here and give us some feedback! best of luck man, as far as hearsay is worth the bike should be good.

Thanks Much!
Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction! I'll check out the Iron Horse Thread.
I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to get the BMC because of standover height. My bike shop's having a hard time getting that information from BMC, and it's pretty critical for me. It would probably work with an 80mm fork, but I want to go with 100mm.
My second option is a Santa Cruz Blur now that they're making an extra small frame. Yes, you guessed right, I'm not a dude, but a dudette....and only 5'4". I don't really want to go with Santa Cruz because their delivery time sucks and their customer service doesn't impress me....but I do like the bike!

hey if you have the dough, check out titus bikes. they have very low standover, probably one of the lowest out there. their racerx is good for racing and the motolite good for horsing around on the trail: titusti.com
this standover thing is a pain, i guess i have a shortish inseam and my current bike can be pretty harsh to me if im not paying attention.
anyway, i looked around and found that titus had good standover. and hey, even ironhorse. though i looked at their mkiii model. if you are looking into the 100 mm bracket, then check out their azure. its a little heavier than a nomal xc bike though..
i think for 300 dollars extra titus would even customize bike geometry to fit you better. and they also have women specific models, which i guess are pretty good. why dont you go over to the womens forum at mtbr, they could help you out better than i could.
you can see the women titus models on their site and for an idea of cost go here:

best of luck, and dont forget pics!
