More 07 Rockhopper Pics
I changed the seat to a BG Comfort. The bike shop finally got rid of the squeaking in the front and rear hubs. These pics are after a couple of weeks of riding it.

i had absolutely NO idea hubs could sqeak... you're talking about your brakes, right?
i got my front disc to stop squeaking by taking out the brake pads, washing them with soap, then using a mr. clean magic eraser on the rotors. it doesn't squeak even when it's wet (from me washing it)... i was surprised. why do you have a kickstand? are you using it as a commuter? |
Word! I just picked up the '07 Rockhopper Comp Disc too!

From my understanding it was the hubs that were squeaking. The tech at the bike shop adjusted the brakes several times to no avail. He was basically confused and couldn't find the cause of the squeaking, until another tech took a look at my bike and spun the wheel. The first then imediatly saw the problem. He lubed the hub and the squeaking stopped. He said that squeaking is common with the front hub. He's never seen it happen in a rear hub. Specialized changed the hubs on the 07 Rockhopper.
Yes. I have a kick stand because I use my bike to ride around town. I live in the city. So a kick stand is a necessity. I know my bike is made for the off road. Rest assure, I do ride my bike to the park were there is a small trail. I also, plan to take my bike with me when I go camping. Here are some more pics. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/IMG_0032.jpg http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...5/IMG_0034.jpg |
Deffinetly a sweet bike. My shop has a few in candy apple red, wish we had some silver ones. As for the catalogue, our rep is bringing them next week, can't wait :)

Question, I have an 07 Rockhopper and I'm curious about something. Are the cables on the downtube supposed to be crisscrossing about halfway down? That just seemed weird to me but maybe thats the norm?
Thanks |

crod2005, or mike, any idea on how much this thing weighs?
|
i weighed my 06 in... with the small additions including heavy 5050's, my rockhopper weighs 29 pounds.
i'm interested as to how much the 07's weigh... |
Ive had one on order for a month now. I need a 15" so thats the reason the shop said it would take a bit to get it in. Same color as your OP.
|
I weighed my bike. 30 lbs.
|
really, so this whole talk about the bike being lighter because of the rounder tubing is just smoke n mirrors?
how much did you guys pay for your bikes? There is a shop here in Pasadena offering to order the bike for me and sell it to me at the lowest suggested price. Whatever that is. On another note, I saw a catalog with some other 07's and noticed the Rockhopper Pro Disc, msrp $1010 in only Mango Orange...looks awesome. Fuserchris |
Don't know about yall, but I'm down with the 07 rh pro.

I like how they routed the rear brake cable under the top tube as opposed to on top like the 06. Gives it a cleaner look.
Like the colour too. |

I love the color on the Pro, does anyone have any feedback on what dealers are letting these bikes go for right now? A shop here in Santa Barbara quoted me $1010 for the bike but that it wouldn't be available for a few weeks. Gosh I love that Mango orange.
Lowest price I could get on a Rockhopper Comp Disc was $800 including tax/shipping. I have yet to order the bike but must admit I'm ready to pull the trigger. The silver is nice :D Fuserchris |
Hmmm...I just got an '07 Rockhopper. The base model. Did I make a mistake? I can still return my bike. Should I go with the Comp? Or Comp Disk? I mainly want my bike to commute on the road, but I have some low end components. It is my first bike since I was a kid. Am I going to notice a difference?
Thanks!! |
if your mainly going to be using it as a daily rider, I don't think that upgrading the bike would be in your best interest. Out of curiousity, how much did you pay?

They gave me another 15 for the Saddle and I upgraded the saddle with a specialized milano. |
Nah, that literally was the only 07 pro pic I could find.
If you can afford it, I'd get the highest model possible to whoever was asking. |
best deal I could find on a comp disc is $800 w/tax, and on the pro $967 w/tax (both 07's)
