my friends looking at getting a new bike hes has $1000 to spend
he was looking at getting a GT chucker 1
or a stp 2
or a giant alias

What kinda riding does he do?

he dose cross country riding and some jumps
but hes not that good and its hes first mountain bike
the stuff he rides isn't that big

What currency is this in? From personal experience I'd discourage getting the stp 2.

I'd go with the Alias.

Out of the giants the Alias has better components but won't be as good a jumper as the STP 2. If its mainly XC riding then the alias is probably the go

If your freind is looking for a jumping bike I would go with the stp2, but the Alias is a better all round bike. This year for 1000 dollars he could get the Talon (replacing the xtc3) I have heard that it is going to be $1000 and the Alias is dropping to $900 but this may be a rumour.
