BLau1976, If it looks like it's going to dry up for the weekend, we could start out at Greensfelder which is a good warm up for the Chubb. If you want more, you're welcome to hit the Chubb with us too. Expect to do a bit of hike-a-bike, though. The only question right now is whether Greensfelder will dry out in time since it takes a while. Chubb dries out quickly b/c it's very rocky. The other option would be to start at Castlewood, but it's a bit tame for my tastes. I'll try to get my friend to lives near Greensfelder to give me a visual tomorrow or Friday. MX is probably going to drive down on Saturday night and crash here. Were you going drive over in the morning? How's a 10:30 or 11:00 meeting time sound? Hopefully it'll start warming up by then and it should still give us enough time to hit more than one area.
Blazinall, glad you're on board. How's that time work for you? Once we get a time, I'll post directions. |
I might be down for this. I am not sure when my finals are done, but I think they might be over by then. Ive never been to Chubb or greensfelder, but I would like to try em out. Im normally a Castlewood guy, and have been to Klondike.

Hey MX... meh, sundays are bad for me. Im in law school and try to get all 150 pages of crap read on sundays. I usually go to Castlewood on Saturdays in the late morning. I plan on going this weekend as well. It'd be fun to ride with some people sometime though.
I was actually talking about the December ride. I love riding in the cold for some reason. |
december might be a possibility for me, but spring is a definate
|
I'm up for riding whenever. For the sake of organization, though, let's plan for a ride this Sunday for sure and then we'll start talking about dates for a Spring ride. My goal for the Spring ride is to get dates that work for my friend Ed. Ed's family has a farm with 2,000 acres in Augusta, which is near the St. Charles area trails. They've got a bunkhouse that will sleep 13 in beds and has unlimited camping. He would just need to clear it with the family.
How about March 10-11 or 17-18? |
BTW, can one of the mods please sticky this thread? I know it's a ways out, but I think we had the Fall Forum thread up for a few months prior as well. Could we also change the title to read "Spring Midwest Forum Ride"? Thanks.
|
Depending on when it is (baby number 2 on the way) i'd come as long as it isnt too far to drive.
|
Flak, looks like it's about an 8 hour drive. Come on down if you can. I'll buy you a burger this time.
|
Only 4 hours or so up to MO, I think I could make a trip next time with a bit more notice

Are we starting to think about dates for the get together?
|
My friend with the farm house is in Central America until the middle of next month, so I can't get any set dates from him on the house yet. Maybe March 10th-11th?
|
my new job has me working 46hours a week plus my duties as a student, and the time I do have I don;t have enough to make it to a trail get a ride in and come back in time to get where I need to be, so I am going to take a temporary hiatus from mountain biking as I'm starting to see the result of not biking and I'm going to start being a temporary roadie. :-(

Any idea on dates yet? I could make St. Louis in about 5-6 hours no sweat. I'd like to join if I can swing it around work and school.
|
Looks like I could either do April 7-8 or 29-29. Anyone have a preference? I'm still in talks with my friend about possibly using his bunkhouse as a camp. Worst-case scenario, we could camp at a local park. I'll lock down the dates by Monday.

:) edit: are you planning on blowing up your avatar anytime soon? |
Either one works for me. I'll make the call on Monday. Yeah, I need to pay for a membership eventually. I think that's about as big as it gets for now. If I give you my membership money, can you make yours twice as big instead? That would be money well spent.
