Thanks, I like the aesthetics of it as well. All the tubes are rather heavily shaped, kinda hard to see in the picture. The top tube is more triangulated, and the down tube is massively ovalized at the bottom bracket...it nearly spans the entire width of the bottom bracket shell. The seatstays and chainstays are also "s-bent" and ovalized in sections as well. Of the few rides I have in on it so far, I really like the handling quite a bit and it climbs very well. I wrote a review on the Perf website for any who are looking at them.

so how do they stack up?

I dunno yet, waiting on pedals for the rig yet. I LOVE my 69er, will be interesting to see how different the rig feels on the trails.

Hi, my name is David and I'm new to the forum. I've been riding mtn bikes off and on (more off than on) since the mid 90's. I've decided to get back into it - time to regain some fitness I've lost over the
years (unfortunately I also qualify for the clydesdale and over 50 forums). I just retired my old ride - a Trek Fuel 90 I been riding for about 9 years and picked up a new ride this past week - a SJ FSR Comp:

Been riding everyday since I got it - a new bike is such great motivation.

I'm looking forward to some good times on this forum.

Later...

David

Well... OK. It's just me, my dog, and my bike. Since Sam (my dog) doesn't have opposable thumbs, he can't work the camera. So how about one of the dog and bike:

Sorry it's an indoor pic - I'm traveling for the 4th and didn't have time to go to the trail tonight.

My new bike cobbled from assorted parts. The frame is an FRM (some small Italian company) I bought off eBay in 2002:

Went out to the Meadow yesterday to really try out the fork for the first time and all I can say is TOO MUCH AIR. Damn, even running the compression full open it still wasn't as plush as I have read it should be. I am also liking the Mutant stem on there I like the lower position of the bars. I feel faster but I am going to have to get used to having that much weight on my hands again. I think I will still be getting new bars too. Possibly flat but defiantly narrower and with less rise. Yesterday I was riding though the trees and thought I could squeeze those 27 inchers though. I was wrong. Hilarity ensued.

ed 07-06-09 02:11 PM

Did you change the oil in the fork when you got it?

yellowjeep 07-06-09 06:59 PM

No it was recently rebuilt (how recent I couldn't say) and I was told it shold be good to go. I think 5 pounds less pressure should do the trick.

Okay...if you ever need any Fox 7wt...I have ample.

yellowjeep 07-06-09 08:18 PM

Sweet I will be back in Lawrence first of Aug. We should ride.

Dannihilator 07-06-09 10:50 PM

Very well matched bike there yellow.

yellowjeep 07-06-09 10:53 PM

That was completely on accident to be honest. I was surprised when the fork matched that well.
