I don't think I have reposted my bike since the recreation of this thread... so here it is with my new Nikon D40 camera.

Yup, you're right, and you aren't the first to offer that advice. Still, thank you. (...and I don't know how to take the seat off the post to move the seatbag). At any rate, both the headlight & tail light will soon be replaced by Cateye products.

Edit: Photo was taken with my Nikon D70s dSLR.

BFG 06-19-07 06:18 AM

Holyyyyyyyy moley.
I take back what i said.
Purely becuse thats COMPLETLEY different to aussie models. looks pathetic.......we get disks over here, plus a decent looking frame.

Not bagging it....more power to you, but yeah, i was just surprised at the differences.
Congrats on having a new ride btw

trailridebiker 06-19-07 07:15 AM

Well, for one it's a huge ass bike, so that's partially why it looks so goofy.

yeah, about that, the bearings were messed up so i'm sending them back to norco and asking for a replacement of a different model - DMR V12's, preferably in magnesium.

http://www.simplythebike.co.uk/image..._v12magsil.jpg

they might not look as nice, but are definitely better pedals imo. much lighter weight (428g vs. 618g) and sealed bearings (vs. non-sealed), for about the same price. I do xc/am riding and my 5050's couldn't even hold up. I'm far from being a clydesdale too. So if anyone is considering 5050's, forget about the unsealed version. The XX's are the only way to go.

P.S. did no one notice the wording on the tires and downtube?

Here's mine. I've only just started modifying it, so it's mostly original equipment, save for the clipless pedals and new saddle:

I've the same bike, but did the bar ends come with it?

Nope. But they are very inexpensive.

She did buy it new. ;)

I added the bar ends, the clipless pedals, and the fenders. I also changed the saddle and added a suspension seat post.
In a weak attempt to stay on topic, here's a pic from yesterday's ride.

There 175, so pretty standard as far as I know. (Meaning that's what's on my bike also).

I have since removed the seatbag; removed the headlight & taillight; and replaced the latter two with these:

http://www.nashbar.com/nashbar_photo.../CE-EL300G.gifhttp://www.nashbar.com/nashbar_photo...m/CE-LD600.gif

mainly on the recommendation of Raiyn.

They were a ***** to put on (stripped the head on the headlight's screw), and I'll probably need electrical tape to keep both in place, but both lights are improvements over the cheapo Schwinn halogens they replace.

Edit: If I knew why this stuff is being wrongly underlined, I'd fix it.

Once you go bashguard, ho, you don't go back. Same with riser bars. And salmon brake pads.

Edit: Gentle Jesus, how have I not taken that "Made in Taiwan" sticker off yet? Props to Taiwan, but, gah.
