It sure makes a difference when you use the correct derailleur (i.e. top swing vs. bottom swing). I had used an existing bottom swing derailleur and it was always finicky in it's adjustment.

And before anyone comments on how low the outer plate of the derailleur is, it is in the correct position. This derailleur swings out in an arc, raising up as it starts out, then lowers over outer chain ring.

You should try clipless, I've got a feeling you'd like it. At first, it takes some gettingused to but when it's all said and done, clipless wins the race.

I'm sure they work fine, but that close up of your pedals hurt my shins.

I think he's referring to the tubeLESS Highrollers.

A few eminent changes:
  1. Stem is too short, will replace with a Ritchey 4-Axis 120mm
  2. Saddle was just to get it on te road, replacing with Selle Italia SLK
  3. Tires stolen from nephews bike, will replace with ???

Not a bad bike. Like the gold cables. But can you actually stop with those rotors, or do they spontaneously combust when you try to use them?

Alligator rotors work great, better than the stock Avid's. There are a bunch of threads about those rotors and the overall consensus is that they are very good.

This bike is really awesome. The frame seems to be the rights size at a 20" , though Giant runs their MTB's small. I'm going to get a shorter stem and chop down the bars and probably put bar tape on instead of grips.
I bought it from my co-worker at the bike shop who bought it from our dealer, it was a mish-mash of parts on the Trance. Hayes So1o hyrdraulics, EA50 finishing group, Deore/LX groupset and a RockShox Recon fork. All for $400 for me.
New fork, tires and stem on the list, and as soon as I find my pedal wrench my Crank Bros are going on.

I see that you are from Ohio. I also see that you are replacing your fork. . . What going to happen to the current one? By any chance you giving it away...
