Which one for the kid's xc race bike? Already checked with him, and any of these would be fine...

Bikes: Bike list is not a resume. Nobody cares.

I'd go with the FSA Platinum Pro Ti MegaQuad - - but I'm prejudiced toward FSA.

Knowing how the 'panache factor' is important to The Kid, I'd say Hope.

The Crank Brothers ISIS BB have bling to them if that's what he's looking for. (even if you won't ever see them once they're threaded in)

He's looking at the weight factor and the replaceable thing in the middle - spline? Otherwise, I'd just get a $30 BB, ya know?

Why is he worried about replacable parts in a BB? The kid knows Mom's gonna get him new bling long before anything could actually wear out

How about an American Classic ISIS bb? I have been using them for a few years and have had minimal problems out of them. They have replaceable bearings which only take a few minutes to change out.

I went to the control tech site and the hope site but I couldn't find bottom brackets on either site.

*edit - found the control tech bb.

Well, I don't know about hope, but someone suggested the Hope Ti BB - runs about 170 grams for about $80-90

The KCNC BBs run about $130 (with shipping), and the ControlTech about $140 with shipping.

I ran across an article on the KCNC/Token, but I believe this is the road bike model. It still shines though!https://www.fairwheelbikes.com/forum/...e8386af6dbdade

I'm leaning toward KCNC - bought thier Scandium Pro-Lite seatpost - a Thompson construction model, but way lighter - and I think Kenny Chang might just have something going there. On the other hand, ContolrTech's Ti/Carbon gets really good reviews, but the Hope Ti gets rave reviews.

See my problem? I want to be a 'good' mom & do the right thing.
