Had it done this summer. Make sure you take it easy for a week and you will probably be back on the bike in 10-14 days. That was all road bike for me, so a lot more saddle contact than on a mountain bike. Maybe less time to get back on a MTB since the saddle is a bit different. Winter is the time to do it!!

Okay pardon my "lack of knowledge" here (oh please school me) but I had always wondered something.

After getting the job done, do men just fire blanks or not fire at all?

Oh wait. That's a bad question. (But I really am curious.) :o

It makes the noise and fires the projectile, but won't cause that fattening injury...

Doug

Three weeks for my road bike. The Doc said I had a little more swelling then usual.

Got it. ;)

datlas 12-20-07 12:02 PM

thanks for the feedback guys.....I have a recumbent that I am hoping I could ride even 1 week afterwards (no pressure on the boys)....but am hoping to be back in the saddle at 2-3 weeks which sounds reasonable from what I am hearing.

My date with destiny is on 1/11/08.

I went for a 2 hour ride today and it has been one week since it was done. No issues and everything was all good.

How is that possible if the chambers are empty??

Way to bring up an ancient thread!

I think that'll answer more questions than anyone wants to ask, or answer.

I thought this died a nice quiet death....

Cheeto 02-18-08 09:49 PM

I wasn't even here when this thread was thought off.
SLvoid has brought back the thread for us..

^^The joys of the search function, that nobody really seems to use.

BFG 02-19-08 06:50 AM

Somebody had to use it, to find the thread in the first place.
Quit your whining.

Exactly.

I don't mind old threads coming up. But some people never seem to search.

BFG 02-19-08 07:51 AM

Its not like there's an abundance of threads in the MTB section about vasectomies.
If it's stuff like bike racks, what bike to buy et al, use the search and don't bring it up. But this one is interesting =]

Cheeto 02-19-08 08:46 AM

What part about THE SEARCH DOESN'T WORK ON MY LAPTOP don't you people get?
The doesn't work part?

BFG you can kindly stop telling me to quit whining, because I'm not.
Now if you want me to, I gladly will begin.

{disco music}awwwwwWWWWW FREAKOUT!{disco music}:D

We get that it doesn't work. I don't think they were referring to you when saying to use the search. On that note, have you tried updating your browser? I think I remember you saying you use firefox. Have you tried the search function on IE or netscape (is that still around?). That would help narrow the problem down to either your computer or your browser.

At least you didn't say SlipKnot :)

I don't think I even owned a windows-capable computer back when that was around. Was that UNIX based? I read about it someplace but don't recall. Not that it matters, SlipKnot and Netscape are both obsolete, dead beings.

Yeah, Slipknot was UNIX-based. It was a way for people like me with UNIX-based shell accounts (without SLIP or PPP accounts) and slow phone-line connections to view graphical web pages. Before that, I could only look at text-based web pages on a terminal-emulator window. My, how far we've come in such a relatively short time.

The SlipKnot home page is still up for historical/archive pruposes:

I don't know about that. I feel like coders are getting lazy as hardware developers just throw more resources at the problem. I was looking at an article about the computer on the Apollo missions and realized it was calculating vectors etc.. @ 1mhz and sometimes I'll see programs choke on simpler operations (well not so much the operation as the overhead)

That being said, I still use lynx (or links) when I really want a fast page, or want something sans images (due to NSFW possibility). It's amazing how much Flash, and javascript, et al slow a web page's responsiveness down.

[end geeky rant]
