I must be a good husband

I am sitting here in Washington D.C. instead of camping and riding with mntbiker66 and the N.C. crew in the ever so lovely confines of Pisgah.

It was all planned. My wife would be gone from Wednesday until Sunday to Washington D.C. for her work conference. While she was gone I was going to camp and ride bikes with Mntbiker66, girlscout and the N.C. crew. At the last minute, the lady who was going with my wife backed out and my wife was going to have to make the trip alone. I volunteered to give up the “man” weekend and make the trip to D.C. with her. Dang…..what was I thinking. This hotel is too fancy and I don’t have my bike with me. This sucks. I need some form of entertainment.

through the silence i can hear the faint sound of a cracking whip...

j/k good on you. Your wife probably needed you to be there for her and as her husband you stepped in. Nothing wrong with that. Id sit on my butt and watch TV/order room service

The sweet tea even sucks. I wonder if GW would mind if I ride a bike on his lawn. Can't wait to get back down south.

Been for a walk...been for a run. I have even eaten strange food from strange lands. I need more creative advice than you have offered my friend. Try again and put more thought into it. I am stuck here until late Saturday afternoon.

You're in the capital of your country, you have access to the internet and three days to kill. Do what the locals do:
  • do some back-room deals [drug and otherwise]
  • shoot somebody [in person or by proxy]
  • push for DC to get state representation
  • filibuster
  • protest something
  • see the sights
  • become a Joint Chief
  • visit friendly Baltimore [via train, if possible]
  • "Stair gap the Lincoln memorial and get it on video" [that would be really cool...]
  • get hammered with Ted Kennedy
  • visit the American Institute of Architecture [1735 New York Ave NW]
  • internet porn

And don't come back until it's time for dinner!

how about

- get a pizza at Two Amy's
- check out a Wright Bros bicycle at National Air & Space Museum (free)
- Citybikes, Capitol Hill Bikes, Bicycle Pro Shop, Revolution Cycles, etc (not free)
- rent a mountain bike from Big Wheel Bikes in Georgetown and ride up the C&O Canal Towpath (cheap)
- watch a movie at AFI Silver Spring or E Street Cinemas
- get a bowl of pho anywhere in Northern Virginia
- drink beer at the Brickskeller
- walk into the National Building Museum just to see the lobby
- tapas at Jaleo

Smithsonian. My unwashed, untravelled self has not been there, but my son tells me it's mind-boggling.

By the way, good job, hubby - -you made a very difficult and wise choice.

Skip the Brickskeller. Yeah, they have 1,000 beers but they're all bottled.
They also own RFD by the MCI Center- about 60 beers on tap- all chosen by the owners.

We have our two kids with us.....so, no hotel sex. Things have actually gotten much better. The boys and I hung out at the zoo (free) for most of the afternoon. Tomorrow we are going to see if we can go hang out at the White House with GW and the boys.
