I don't think anyone makes purple spokes.

Though, I could be wrong. Just never seen any.

^^^ You want an update?

FINE!!!!

Here's another teaser pic for ya.

I got these little tidbits in the mail a couple days ago.

Don't ya just love purple?

Purple UNO bars/stem and post. Along with a set of hot green Oury grips to match the green frame.

This bike is going to be so sweet when it's done. It kind of reminds me of an old Team Fat Chance.

Hey Everybody,

Should I get a set of these bottle cages to match?

couldn't you just buy a 5$ one and spray paint it? Just like you did to the frame and fork? I mean, you did an awesome job on the frame... why buy one?

And so it begins.

The frame is finally complete, and the build begins. I only need to find me a 10mm spacer for the steerer, and I can really start getting down to business.

Here's the completed frame. I really like how the purple paint on the tubing matches the anodized components. I really am happy it matches as well as it does, or it definitely would look out of place. Thankfully, not. Of course, the whole bike kind of looks out of place.

This makes me happy. My current MTB is a '95 Rockhopper Comp that I bought new. It is a product of its environment.

I think your project is awesome.

No, but Rockhopper Comp + Mid 90's purple ano = awesome by my math, so you get kudos from me. I love the colors, too. I'm too chicken to try a repaint, even if I've always thought the burgundy was too boring. On the subject of bottle cages, I just removed and threw out a cage that was pretty badly tweaked in my recent move. Very lightweight, it was folded from a sheet of aluminum, and was cylindrical in shape. Mine was anodized in gunmetal, but I've seen them in purple. It's quite a bit more purple surface area if that's what you're after. I'm sorry to say that I don't recall the brand. I only have one photo of it, and it's rather blurry, but I thought it might help explain what I'm talking about:

^^^ I've seen those too. I think they're made by Ringle. I saw one recently on Ebay. I haven't seen too many around though, and I'm thinking I may prefer the regular type. Not quite sure yet. This week I'm just sitting thinking on it, and wondering what cages I really want.

Thanks for all the comments.

I thought of that too. Those are beautiful. However, they are very hard to come by. The ones I found were on ebay, and were not in very good shape. And the ones that are, get very expensive. I'm really trying to keep this overhaul within a small budget.

Besides, the Headset I have is the original Specialized. It was a little rusty on the outside, because it has metal cups. So, I sanded, then painted it. It has a nice coat of clear over it now, and looks shiny new.

But the ones he linked are only $6, and the shipping is the same price as a can of spray paint, so why would he bother?

To Patriot- get 'em. (edit: or those fat sheet aluminum cages would work, I don't really prefer either myself)

edit: Also, I don't think paint would stay on a chrome cage anyway, and anodizing looks better

I just bought a couple bottle cages. They are these kind. I wanted the ones with the black on the base to keep from scratching too much. Also, they hold the bottle better, and weigh a few grams less. I asked him for two purple ones. The green just doesn't work.
