Who's yer daddy?

So it seems the trail asked me that this morning. I haven't crashed this hard in over 2 years! Riding my light XC bike waiting until my warranty freeride frame comes in...I took a pretty harsh line. I shoulda known better! My skinny XC tires and light suspension just couldn't handle the line...

WHAM...I'm hurtling off the bike down a rocky slope at 20mph - I ended up about 25ft past where the bike stopped.

A HUGE bruise above my right hip (what's it mean when it's still NUMB over an hour later?). Both elbows, right forearm covered in SWEET bloody hamburger...

Every once in a while...Old Man Trail has to reach up and smack you back down to remind you who's boss!

I'll snap some pics this evening...hopefully my bruised hip/"big fat love handle" will have blossomed out nicely by then as well. It's STILL NUMB!

Nice! I'm used to my big gushy 6" travel Giant AC with da big fat 2.5's...I hit this line, came down hard on the bottom...my XC bike (1.9's and a harsh 3.75") said "no way...see you later" and REJECTED me hard.

Yes it's still MY stupid fault...

I never run a tire less than 2.1 inches.... I'd run wider if my bike would allow it. But unfortunately us XC riders aren't supposed to run anything wider than 2.1

I take my old xc bike out (my gf old bike) periodically to remind me why I like fat tire fury more than skinny little xc tires. I always end up crashing, falling or something haha ..

Hopefully no real damage is done to your hip...pretty touhg spot to injure but when it is...whoooo

Isn't that the way Beloki fell two days ago! Ouch!

Glad to hear it wasn't a break. Remember, Ice for 48 hours, heat for the following 72. Packets of frozen peas work great as ice packs.

Cheap and very effective Heat Pac: Get an old tube sock (no holes) fill it with uncooked rice (about a 2lb bag) fill the sock with the rice, tie a knot in the open end. Microwave for about a minute, lasts about 30 minutes. Repeat. ****NOTE-Do NOT add water*****

Probably a wise choice.

Probably just a deep muscle bruise, but better to be safe than amputated!

Although amputating my love handle wouldn't be such a tremendously bad thing...

Nerve damage sounds fun.

But my creepiest almost really ****ed up story was one day we were going to a race in uper lower michigan, than all of the sudden and I get a migraine. Then my hands goes numb and it starts traveling all the way up my body to my head, and then to my gumbs and tounge, and roof of the mouth. it was completey freaky

I pray nothing is wrong man, I am looking foward to that ride

What was it that happened to you...with the numbness??

I'll be fine for the ride - it's just numb and a little sore in spots...won't keep me off the bike...I'm riding at 6am in the morning!

I get a migraine every couple of months. My tell tale sympton is not being able to focus on the object in front of me. I have to look at it with my peripheral to tell what it is.

When that happens I know I am ****ed.
But that thing in the previous post only happened once, but dam, it was terrible

so you have central scotomas as your herald sign. I feel for you.... my whole family has migraines and boy does it screw you for the day. Lucklily mine breaks easily with advil so I don't need any fancy stuff. Since you have had an episode of complicated migraine be careful with the triptans (imitrex, zomig, maxalt etc.) as the link suggested

Wow! All this medication talk is mighty serious! I ride wearing an insulin pump. Does that qualify?

We were riding with a friend last week. She tried to dismount whilst still moving! She fell hard and though her boobs took most of the brunt she had glorious hamburgers on her kneecaps. She felt the boobs most. I offered her a hand up, and then my wife sent me a discrete distance away so that they could check the boobs!

Cool! I believe those in the medical profession call that a subdural hematoma, (sp?). I call it an owie.
