I went out on a real mb trail for the first time today and had the time of my life. However, I had a couple probs. 1. Got chased by a rabid horse fly. 2. Had hell getting clipped in in time to face the obstacles ahead. I use wellgo pedals. I kind of want a pedal that gives me stability in the event that Im not clipped in by the time I reach an obstacle. I'm sure this wouldnt be that necessary if I didnt have to stop so much do to the trail having deep sand in a few spots.
Anyways, any suggestions for quality pedals that give stability whether your clipped in or not? Thanks

If you don't want something that bulky, the regular TIMEs give a fairly decent platform for standing on if you're not clipped in, plus they're great pedals and are really easy to clip in and out of. Once you get more experience with the pedals, you will be able to clip in pretty easily.

We second the time Zs for for platform clipless pedals.
Were your pedals new? Try lubricating all the metal to metals contact points on your pedal, and make sure your release tension (if equipped) isn't too high.
Also, if the pedals are new they may need to be clipped into and out of a few dozen times for the cleats and moving parts to break in and operate smoothly.
Finally, practice practice practice. Go to a grassy field or an empty parking lot and focus on one foot at at time. Try unclipping before some small obstacle in front of you at various speeds, try unclipping at the 12-o-clock position then clicking back in before you reach the 6-o-clock position while pedaling. Practic unclipping at various point in the rotation as wel (3,6,9,12).
After a few sessions you should be much more comfortable on the trail.

Thanks guys. I'm getting better with the clips. I'll prob get the mallets in the future. These wellgos are brand new. I love them on the street where I ussually have the space to get clipped though I have had prob when Im at a stop light going up hill. I would feel better knowing that I had control with the clips in or out in both situations
