Yeti 575 size

Okay I'm looking to get me either an '04 or '05 model Yeti 575 in the near future. I am right around 5'11" with shoes on. I am beating myself up trying to decide if I should get the medium or large frame. I looked on yeti's website and according to the charts it looks like I am borderline Medium but how accurate those charts are no-one really knows. There are no dealers anywhere close to where I live so trying one out is out of the question......but I'm leaning towarads a Medium and if it feels a little short just putting a longer stem on it....I would hate to have to do the opposite and make a bike that feels too big smaller. Anyone else here with similar stats to mine with yeti's have anything to share on this? Thanks in advance.

Also I'm around 230ish but I don't see how body weight would effect bike sizing but could be wrong.

Medium should be fine. You will be at the upper end of its size range as you noted. Yeti's size charts are pretty accurate;so a lot will depend on your particular riding style.

If your style is toward the aggressive side, a medium will center you in the cockpit better. If you are more XC-oriented, you may want to be a bit stretched out; but I would still peg a large at a 6'-0" or taller rider. I rode a medium AS-X for almost all my riding (except XC races) and I am 6'-1".

I'm the same size as you and I have been riding a medium Yeti Kokopelli for about 5 years now and it fits great. The stock 120mm stem even suits me.

Thanks guys that eaze's my mind. Even though I'll be doing some XC riding I don't like long races I prefer the short track more aggresive types of races with more technical sections and mid size jumps anyway......so the medium does sound right up my alley, it seems like it would make it easier for me to manouver around obstacles and overall just control the bike better.
