Okay y'all, I am getting a new rear wheel built for the Scythe pictured above. The hub will be silver, the rim will be black. What color spokes should I get?

Silver pulling spokes, black pushing spokes..

White. The "Banshee" and the spokes the only white on the bike.

Red.

Pink. Is pink an option? Go with pink.

Match the front.

I like the way you think, I'm just having a hard time visualizing it. I was thinking maybe drive side silver, brake side black?

The fork lowers are gonna be white too. Sadly, white is not a color option unless I rattle can them or something, but that would look crappy soon enough.

What is this, 2006? :D It would match the fork caps nicely though.

I applaud pink when used as a tribute to healthy boobs. But that's about as far as it goes.

That's what would look the best. I'm just having a hard time swallowing the upcharge for fades this time around. This build is supposed to be more utilitarian than bling.

In that red/white version of the Scythe from my previous post the spokes were white, matching the white part of the paint scheme. I thought it looked good. Given that you have a black/silver frame my vote is for silver.

Oh, I rescind my contribution then.. silver with brass nipples.

What model?

I got an invite to a 1-series driving event here in Montreal and was really pleased with the way the 135 felt. It had good power and handled really well especially with the option adaptive steering. On paper adaptive steering sounds like nothing more than a parlour trick but I have to admit while driving there is a significant feel between a car with and without it. Too bad it doesn't come in a station wagon model.

Apparently the 1-series is available as a 5-door hatch model in Europe. I drove a 135 coupe. I'm looking for something smaller to replace the Pathfinder...and something more fun to drive wouldn't hurt either.

Yeah, I saw plenty of the 1-series coupes (previous generation) in Europe. Pretty nice looking.

Do it, the 135 is a great car especially in the M-trim. It really made for a nice looking upgrade in the looks department. If you have any intention of driving it aggressively on a track or something, really look into that adaptive steering.

I have nothing but praise for my 3-series (E46) and how reliable it's been. There's a strong community around the cars (comparable with the VW and Audi guys) so trouble-shooting is a breeze as is knowing what to do for preventative maintenance. A good example is that in the E46 models the water pumps were known to explode (plastic impaler) somewhere between 80k-100k usually taking out the radiator and other parts with it. So, just change the water pump at 80k and get one with a metal impaler (easy to find). If you're apt to doing the change yourself there are plenty of pictorial DIY.

In a few years time when my station wagon gets too old to keep around, I'll probably look into something smaller like this 1-series. Or pick up a used 5-series station wagon.

Not sure if the demo car had active steering...what does it do (I'd check online but I can't seem to access the BMW site right now)?

I really liked the squared lines of the 1-series, looks like an older M3. I was thinking black with the M package:

Sorry I havent kept up with the new models. This M package, is it an actual M1 or just sportier options? Does it have a limited slip diff?

Adaptive steering reduces the required steering input at speed. Put it this way, at the driving event I went to they set up a cone course with a lot of tight turns. On a car without adaptive steering you had to do the hand-over-hand to turn into some of these tight turns. With adaptive steering you never had to, your hands stayed at 9 o-clock and 3 o-clock.

I believe shuffle steering is the currently recommended technique amongst the cognoscenti.

I don't think it will be an M1. BMW wants to avoid using that name, since it's also the name of the first supercar they created.
