Pro Fail, you have to remember that there are people here who are bike shop employees and are familiar with warranty situations. What you are doing is placing every bike into the same category, your perception would state that if a DH/FR bike was to be used for DH/FR purposes, it would void it's warranty.
|
...This is silly.
Whatever, any bike save for a road bike should be able to handle a four inch curb. If the wheel smashes, then it should be replaced under warranty. "What you are doing is placing every bike into the same category, your perception would state that if a DH/FR bike was to be used for DH/FR purposes, it would void it's warranty." Well, according to some people, using a XC bike in a XC-esque situation voids it's warranty. |

I was Riding relatively slow, OFF a curb. Not INTO IT
So I don't know wth happened. So I'm going to save up for something like the haro shift. Hows that sound? |

Apparently a curb breaks a mountian bike... I don't get it, and I'm rather pissed off/ discouraged from it. I don't really trust my bike anymore. It's a shame I'm alreayd looking for another one to get in the next year, but I don't want to hurt my parents feelings as they scraped the bottom of the bank account to get this bike for me.. I like haros reputation that it had in the BMX world. I've been looking at the Haro Shift, or the Haro Escape sport. Like th shift as it's dual. If that is true ,you have done nothing that would cause damage to your bike. In the bike club that I run I have seen kids be a lot harder than that on their bikes with no problems. |
I know, I've been, easy on this bike.
I beat my BMX to heck and back, several times. I've actually tried to keep this bike nice.. I got pissed off last night when my friends brother knocked it over and it got scratched against a tree. So I just don't get how a freaking curb devastated the whole rear of the bike. That Haro Shift is looking better and better. Affordable to.. http://harobikes.com/mtb/bikes/shift_r1.php |
Bikes sometimes just........fail. It happens.
|
I would steer away from the Haro and buy a hardtail at that pricepoint for sure. Youll have more problems with that than your Trek imo.
|
I was looking at the shift, or the escape, but I havn't checked out some of the other companies yet.
|
I had good luck out of Haro. I had a swing arm crack in a weld and they replaced it without question.
|
^Thats good to know, I like good customer service and the likes.
Problem is, my LBS isn't a Haro dealer. I just never see any haros out on the trails. |
I hear nothing but good things about heir higher end bikes, but until you're talking over about 1800 Aus. Dollars, you generallyget better bike for your money with a hardtail. Or go secondhand, you can pick some leet deals on the marketplace here and there, that would be my choice for a budget fully.
|
Yeah, that Haro isn't really specced that much better than your current bike. Do you really want another SR fork? :P I'm afraid you'd just end up throwing more upgraded parts at it... 34 pounds is a pretty hefty bike, too... $800 could get you a decent hardtail...or an even better used hardtail...
|
Yea I saw the fork, The shift R3 has a little better parts.
But I see what you guys are talking about. |
Scope out your local craigslist, the classifieds, look at your options and sit tight for a while, as opposed to impulse buying/lusting. Also, doing background research on bikes is a good start.
|
Yea, I'm not going to be able to buy for another year or so, just trying to get some goals.
