Then 5.5lbs isn't too bad when you add everything up...maybe high by a pound or so (400-500g) unless you go with really light parts.

My bike weighs alittle more then I think she should weigh. She is about 28lbs. Right below. I would like to get her at 25-26lbs. Just got a call from the guys at the bike shop and all I can say is OUCH. (to upgrade to new wheels.) So, we will see what I am going to do. I have to think about a few things.

Can anyone that has a Motobecane Fantom say anything bad about the frame? I'm thinking about making this the base for my next build. Sorry for hijacking your thread, Smashy...

its a tossup between the ****ty Ibex that broke on the first ride:
Or the SuperV that couldn't climb anything. The suspension was awful. I also broke the rear triangle more than a handful of times.

worst bike ... well it may be the best and worst ... it came from western auto.. it was a western flyer brand .. had it when I was around 14.. it was called a copperhead .. it was a cold/coper color. Loved it, rode it all the time.. one day the one remaining brake cable snapped while going down a hill.. I steered it into a tree rather than off into a ravine and creek. I was ok.. and I guess I assumed the bike was ok .. around 6 months later I was "just riding along" on pavement when the bottom dropped out before I knew it the head tube had snapped off I was tumbling on the pavement tangled in cables and sharp broken metal.. I still have scars reminding me how much I love/hate this bike... after this accident I upgraded to a huffy the very next day as I was on a family vacation and you had to have a bike to get away from the family.

Mine is easy
This bike was like a springboard. I remember the first ride a took on this thing, launched me off the seat and over the bars several times.
My brother would say it was a Skykomish. During the early 90s a nearby shop sold these things for around 200 dollars and they were a tiny step over X-mart bikes. My dad bought my brother one and the frame broke three times, and was replaced three times. The third time we sold the bike.

A univega. A $250 bike and all I could afford at a time I was car-free. That frame was dead. Well, dead is too subjective. It seemed to take more energy to move then any other bike I've owned.

No, opossum has a much wilder taste that chicken. It is also a darker meat and more stringy. If it's fixed right it's makes a tasty BBQ.

The pic in my last post was too large, So I deleted the post. But my worst bike was a Huffy Verdict, (with Zoom on the fork!) I was in a shopko, and they had them on clearance. (due to the recall, no doubt) I bought one for the wife, and one for me. Stripped my cassette first, then stripped hers next..... the drivetrains sucked, and the suspension was nothing more than springs. The frames seemed plenty strong, but they were not light. They are currently in my shop being welded into the worlds heaviest tandem.
