From what I found out about that, if you don't know, it is a 99. It has an xt/xtr drivetrain, does it still have those?

Still kicking.
What you are going to need:
Chain
Chainrings
9speed cassette,
Deraillieur Hanger
You might be able to straighten the rear deraillieur.
Glad the wheels trued up.
Jockey cogs for the deraillieur.
Blue, touchup paint, black touchup paint and whiteout should take care of the scratches.
Grips, I would put something like Salsa Juego De Fuegos on it.
Just a little heads up with that particular model of LX shifter, I would squirt some lightweight oil or alcohol in there, those triggers have a history of having the internals fail if they get dry.
Edit: BCD on cranks is 104mm.

Definitely, I would have gotten that. And you might need a new cassette. New chains don't often mesh well with old cassettes. You'll just have to see. If the chain feels funny when pedalling put a new one on (cassette) so you don't wear out the chain early.

You're the man! I don't think I need a cassette. The cassette on it seems fine. Not much wear. I'll probably just get the middle chainring if I can't "bend it back". Any ideas where to go for it? The LBSs by me are such ripoffs.
I'll try my best to straighten the RD hanger. I have no idea how to do that. Time to use the search function in the mechanics forum, eh? But first, I'll try to adjust the limit screws to see if it'll prevent the RD from flying into the spokes.
Jockey cogs. Are both those little wheels called jockey cogs? I'll probably buy everything online and knowing the formal name of an item is the difference between a good buying experience & a horrible experience.
I paid $200. What do you guys think? Good deal? Did I get robbed?

Okay, I must admit. A smile came over my face when I saw how that the middle chainring worked for you. I didn't think that it was possible to put it back but you certainly proved it!

Pssst: your new SRAM rear mech is not going to work with the old Shimano shifters. You'll need some SRAM shifters and a cassette to match whichever shifter speed setup you get. (8 or 9 speed)
You're not getting a lot of responses because your post is about a ten your old bike. Yeah, there are likely a great many out there still, but most are not in hardcore or daily driver mtb use at this point. Not particularly rare though. At least it's nothing particularly proprietary about the frame for you to get spare parts to fit.

Yeah im the same i like shimano , not that ones any better than the other its just my opinion. Their kits are tad more exspensive. Ijust showed you the x7 cause i though you were sticking to a buget.

I had to try and keep up.
My original plan for the Dawg was to make it a 2x9 or a 1x9...
with the terrain here, and the constant ups and downs, Im thinking I need to keep it a 3x9.
