Awesome Cheeto! How'd the start go? Throwing up in a race is no big deal. It might blind the guys behind you if it hits them in the face though. ha. Racing is awesome.

Nice job kid. Everyone should race, at least a few times. It teaches humility and builds confidence at the same time.

edit: unless you suck, I guess. then no confidence.

Judging by those videos of you mx, I would venture that you have no shortage of (over)confidence.

I raced bmx for 2 seasons back in the early 80's.. lots of humility was learned, but no confidence was built.

Thats right, I sucked. I was the first kid in school with Vans though.

Just got back from my camping trip!!!!

Umm, I'm NOT shaving my legs, and I prefer my baggy shorts LOL! My glasses are so hot though, lol. I rock em well, I think.
The start was awesome, I thought ahead and had my bike into the gears 2 and 5 ( I know I know, I dont know the teeth numbers yet) 2 and 5 is my comfortable easy to get going fast gear. While a lot of others had it in like 1 and 3 and stuff. I had also clipped in my right foot, which is my stronger foot, and had it in the 12 o clock position, and I pushed off with my left. I was also the only one standing up off the start, I gained a major lead up that hill, even when I had to shift way up to like 1 and 3 just to get up it, everyone else was all jacked up.

Racing is hard, but fun. I'll have to do some more races, problems is there's no more local races...
Time to travel. I turn 16 april 6th, and get my license on the 12th, so I'll be able to drive now also.

It helps to put your weak foot in the clip at the start and have your strong leg on the ground. Also you can hold your brakes and push down on th pedal hard. When the whistle blows, let go of the brakes and you'll get going pretty fast. Awesome job Man!

I'm actually pretty good at driving. My friends trust me to drive their cars, and I'm not even licensed yet lol.

I'm going to practice that kind of stuff, but for this race, I just wanted to get out there. I didn't want to look to good, because the announcer already had a rough time believing I was first timer I think. Especially with my times.

But thanks for the tips, I'll try that and see how it goes.

Holy moley you get your license at age 16? Geez. Thats early. I'm not eligible for mine til I'm 17 - December this year. I have my learners permit though.

Oh amd ProFail - regarding your post questioning mine, even though it sounds a little creepy, we've all seen this kid progress from buying his first MTB to racing, it's humbling. I don't know.

Yea I If you take a bunch of classes and do all this other crap you can get it at 16 here in GA.
I've had my permit for like 360 days, supposed to have it for 366.
Year and one day.... But since its a leap year, I gained a day =)
I can't wait because then I'll be able to go to the Georgia State Cup #2 at Columbus Georgia.
=)
I'm going to try to race all 8 of them.

Kai.

I think it's cool that in three months Cheeto got his bike and started racing, I just don't know if "proud" is the right word. Humbling, yes.

Anyway, thanks for the support and tips everyone. I really look forward to my next race and will be continuing to train for the higher class.
Between now and the next race I will hopefully have gotten a new fork and crankset also. That should help out a lot.
I'm open to all, and any helpful tips and hints.

edited: took out a part, didnt want to be mean.

Sadly yes.
North GA was in a "Critical stage" where like the lakes were threatened to be dried up and stuff.
Middle GA, were I'm at and southern GA, where in the orange, what ever that means. We need the rain, but it still sucks lol.
the lakes on the base wee bad, the water level had dropped like 4 feet from the normal shoreline.
its almost back up though.

Same here.

I think Raleigh had around 150 days of water left before the rain. We still can't use water for much....
