Goodbye Viento, hello Scirocco?

Ugh, got the call from Zack at beyondbikes.com that Banshee wont have any Viento's for another 3 weeks! Thats what they told him 3 weeks ago! They have an ano grey Scirocco in stock that I could have delivered next week. I cant wait anymore, I need to ride!!!

Since this is going to be my do-it-all bike I need something that will last for years. I know the Scirocco is pretty much indestructible but is it too much AM/FR for XC? Its only 350 grams heavier than the Viento so I dont see what the big deal is but everyone keeps saying how it'll suck as a trail bike...wtf?

Thoughts?

If anything, I would rather get the Scirocco. The weight difference between the two frames is negligible, but it's the angles that differentiate the two. According to the Banshee website, the Scirocco is designed around 5.5" travel and has a slacker headtube (69 vs 70 degrees), as opposed to the Viento, which is designed for 4 inches of travel and has a headtube angle of 70.

If I had the money, I would have gone with the Scirocco instead of my Komodo in a heartbeat. IMO, that's the baddest hardtail on the market. It is light enough for a trail build, yet according to the mfgr you can huck it.

You'll love it. If you don't...make sure you get it in a 19" and sell it to me used

Screw what they're saying dood. The Reba will be okay...prob. better with a 95-140 (PIKEPIKE) for the "all around" factor, but it will work well.

Will do, though it's kinda on the backburner as I am building a few other bikes right now...

Single speed for when I go to Burning Man/local grocery getter
Rebuilding my old Kona into a geared bike for my little brother
and finally an old Cannondale R600 for my fiance.

So many bikes, so little time (and cash :-/ )
