looks fine to me, but I think you might need to switch to the SS/fixed forum for advice on that

It wasn't that good in 99.

Well, you have done a good job of sounding like a jerk. Look, it's simple. You wanted a mountain biker's opinion. I gave you mine. I wouldn't spend much on it. Maybe you can find some sucker to spend $500. Good luck with that.

I'm curious what you paid for it at a garage sale. Looks like it was not used much, if at all.

I do not think you can get $500 out of it. I do not think you can get $400 out of it. But you can try. I think market value of that is probably in the $300's if you are willing to wait a bit. I sold a 98 GT LTS2 that was a $1700 bike new with a $400 girvin front fork upgrade about 1.5 years ago for about $350 on ebay. That is market value. What I sold had better parts all around too.

Bottom line IMHO: If you got that for $100 or less you got a steal. $100-200 a very good deal. Above that, you did okay I guess.
This is a better bike than $400 FS will buy you today IMHO. But the buyer has to believe that too.

Edit - I had a 1997 GT LTS 2 and it was $1800. In 98 they went to LTS 2000 model name.

Considering his starting bid is $400 I don't think he wants the market to determine the value. He'll be out a listing fee in no time.

^^ i was going to say that, but in a less polite way. I see he has some feedback on his account, so maybe he knows what he's doing, but my guess is..................relist at $375.................$350....................open auction that gets to $280.

Doesn't by SS because he has a date, blows $50, goes home alone and then finds himself with $200 after ebay fees and whatnot.

Takes up running because it's cheaper.

$100. Like I said, that's all the money I had to spend, and all I want is a reliable SS road bike. College is expensive. On second thought, I'll lower it to $325. I can mow some grass to bridge the gap.

And I think you guys should all redirect your sass to this guy:

^^^I would love to get a hold of that guy and unleash the full power of my keyboard on him.

$100 is a good deal for the bike, whatever you sell it for will be more than that. In the black regardless

Saves up a few dollars to get the SS or lurks on ebay until he finds a used road bike for $250 and spends $50 replacing a few odd and ends. Goes riding with his girlfriend....later spends spends his weekly alotment of spending money he earns busing tables on a moderately priced dinner.

Gets many years of great use out of his bike and never buys another car.
fix'd.

Either way, thanks for the help. Having ridden the bike quite a bit, I believe $400, while a little on the low side of what I was hoping, is a fair asking price. It's very enjoyable to ride.
There are just things people look for now a days in bikes, 1. Air suspension 2. up to date bling 3. Well known componentry.

If you are able to find a craigslist or ebayer who is enlightened such as yourself and is willing to pay 4-500 then thats great but you would be best off to ask for a price which is the a little above the true value and get something like the Diamondback Insight 1 used or spend a couple bucks more and get new for 400 and get a faaaaarrr better bike than the scattante.

I too would love to unleash my keyboard on this guy, but that breaks my #1 ebay rule (you do not have to bid, just move on). I hate it when someone tells me out of the blue that I am asking too much in an ebay auction. Just pisses me off . . . even more so because every time I have got one of those the item sells for more than they said I could possibly get . . . but back to topic . .

I love to that he prefers check. Ok . . . let me be clear as a buyer . . . to buy your overpirced item I should send a check to save YOU money and I get the added benefit of waiting a week to have you ship it to me. Wow, talk about a win win.

Moron.

Well I sold it for $325 plus $60 for shipping. I also spent the day hack-sawing the catalytic converter out of my car, and that's fetching about $76 on ebay.

Despite everyone's apparent unreasoned bias against the Scattante, I will purchase it in a few days.

Dude.... just say no. Get a clue about biking first and true bike quality and values before you make a purchase, search craigslist. Go onto ebay and dont waste your money on this bike when you could get so much more for the value.
