Matthew Modine the actor? It kind of looks like him but I don't think so... that guy is hilarious in the video though, whoever he is.

2004 Trek 4500
My rig now with new wheels and tires. I bought it new 9 years ago this month. Though it doesn't get as much use as it used too, I still enjoy riding it as much as ever.

new knard and rabbit hole front wheel I built myself at the coop. squishin. What frame is that? |
Thanks, The frame is a karate monkey. I think Ill stick with an average rim out back but would love to see if the dirt wizard fits when it shows up. The RH/Knard combo wont fit in the rear as is.

New to me bike, first full suspension. Guy barely rode it, his hip hurt him too much when riding. Didn't want to sell it but his wife made him, so good for me! I came in about 60% of my budget, so the rest can go to upgrades!
It will be getting a new fresh white or red powdercoat job, new bar, stem and grips, rebuild the front fork, and upgrade the front wheel/tire to 650B. I just wish there wasn't 8" of snow on the ground and negative temps so I could go ride it! Disregard all the baby stuff we're collecting... http://i1137.photobucket.com/albums/...ps81d755c6.jpg |
I personally wouldn't drop anything on painting that. She's a beauty as is, and the wheels on it are nice. If they're straight and spin nice, why get a fancy 650b wheel?

While I admit, the paint condition is fine, and I don't "need" to spend the money, I just really don't like the paint job. I prefer a more subtle look. And I really like the newer style Kona lettering over what is on it now. So I want a solid color with simple lettering. I can get a chemical strip and powder coat done for $85 here in town, which I don't think is bad at all.
As for the front wheel...I test rode some 29ers and found them to be clumsy for what we have around here. I have a hybrid with 700c wheels, but with road tires and I really like that, but the 29er was more difficult to navigate on trails around here. I test rode a 650B and really liked it. I will primarily be riding on singletrack and forest trails, and the 650B wheel seemed to get through that better than the 26er did...plus I'm not a small guy, so the slightly bigger wheel up front seemed to help. I plan on spending around $200 for the front combo, and with the new paint and other additions, I'm still under my $800 budget i gave myself... |

My New Bike!

I'm new to mountain biking, not new to biking. I'm a road biker at heart! Got this new 2014 Scott Scale 770 to change things up. It has 27.5" wheels with a 10 speed Shimano Deore drive train. Well, 30 given the triple. I really like it, just wasn't crazy that it was advertised as having a remote suspension lockout and it didn't come with one. Oh well, not necessarily a deal breaker since the stock forks at this price point are usually mediocre at best. Otherwise, I'm happy with the bike! Safe riding everyone!
