How's that GC along with shifts thru the whole cassette? I got one I plan on putting on my Fatty in a couple weeks.

Compared to a normal cassette I would say it is about 85-90% as good. The shifting up into the GC is only a hair slower. Barely noticeable. Through the whole cassette it is fine. The jump with the 17t missing is a little noisy nut they all work really well. A+ from me.

Just finished up the 650B conversion. Need a new cassette and it'll be ready for the trails. I just added a new bar, stem and grips.

Cross-posting this from the VRC mountain bike thread.
A new eBay purchase. (in fact, these are the eBay photos, as I haven't taken any yet.) This is an as new 1992 Trek 970 SingleTrack. The last year with lugged frames, the first year with the threadless stem, and near the end of the US made frame. The bike still has its Trek tires, Trek saddle, and Trek tool bag. There's not even any scuffing where the cable guides rub on the head tube. I doubt this bike has more than a handful of miles on it. Currently all apart getting cleaned, greased, and polished. http://smorris.smugmug.com/Leaning-A.../0/O/image.jpg http://smorris.smugmug.com/Leaning-A.../0/O/image.jpg http://smorris.smugmug.com/Leaning-A.../0/O/image.jpg http://smorris.smugmug.com/Leaning-A.../0/O/image.jpg I also have a Craigslist 1995 Trek 830 Mountain Track beater with the purple fade paint. |
^^ The Trek has nice frame details...... Love it.
Great bike there dminor. |

Here's my parts beast '12 Surly MeanOGREeno. Wearing the commuting pants, but when it finally dries out they'll come off as all pants must. Getting it ready for fire road racing this summer (and hopefully some painfully slow lower-Cat XC). A friend turned my steering spacers in his lathe because he rocks. Shimano XT/Raceface 1x10 drivetrain, Stan's Crest hoops, Avid BB5 (front) and BB7 (rear) brakes, and an Origin8 saddle that has collapsed under the mighty power of my left buttcheek. Behold!

Pretty hawt, Yeti! Digging the color and build. Just got the SB95 Comp. I'm sure yours is way lighter.
You'll love your 95 I'm sure. Don't think you'll be giving up that much weight-wise - - frame weighs a pound more and wheels and small bits may account for a bit, but you'll make up for it when you get 'er up to cruising speed :thumb:. Biggest surprise to date has been the 'budget' Mavic Crossride wheels. I worried about those spindly-looking things (only 24-spoke 2-cross?) when I got the bike; but after almost a year of plowing rock gardens, landing whippy jumps and runs down a DH course, they're still as tight and true as new. I'm impressed. |

Thanks! Build is mostly stock '13 Enduro (they didn't have Comp versions last year) with some help from my kind folks at Renthal and Maxxis. I really struggled in my choice between the 66 and the 95 but ended up going with what I felt would feel more akin to my 303R DH.

It ain't summertime 'til I get a single-speed beater that I have no intention of keeping after Nov. 1st.
This year's candidate is a pretty sweet orange Free Spirit All Terrain with wheels from a Next La Jolla. Gonna get around to shoving a cheap BMX crank in there before long, grab some grips and I'm all ready for trips to coffee, hitting the riverside MUP with the little lady, etc. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3677/...78294b03_b.jpg |
+ rep for color, bars and butt-killer saddle :thumb:.
