And it is approved. I liked that iteration of Hardrock frame - - self-gusseted enough to take a lot of abuse. Those things survived a lot of grom thrashing.
Good call, D! That was the Hardrock that changed the world right there. That was when I started telling everyone who didn't know what bike to get..."Buy a Hardrock. It will do anything." That thar's the one. |
Got the remaining parts today and was finally able to put it together. Took it out for a ride tonight and it feels pretty good. Definitely notice the bigger wheels...in both positive and negative ways. And it'll take a bit getting used to a rigid bike on the trails again.

After moving to the City (left my bikes at my home town), I was forced to stopped cycling. A few weeks ago, I decided to get back into cycling. So I went to an LBS and bought whatever fit my budget. I do not intend to do some serious trails as I live in the City now, just some recreational rides in the park and around where I live. I will be swapping the fork with a rigid carbon or Al fork.. |

Thanks. It's fun but a rigid carbon 29er is quite a bit different that what I have been riding over the last few years...took a few rides to get used to it.

^^ That's mighty fatly-tired hybrid you got there, never.

Another on-going project. Klunker inspired 29er using an old Schwinn frame. Awaiting the Retro Ryder headset so I can use the 1 1/8" rigid fork, and a longer seatpost. added rear disc brake mounts. There is just enough clearance at the rear stays to run a 2.1 Small Block Eight 29er tire without modification. The bottom bracket height is 13.75", liveable. It will be geared 1x9. In the future I may add an 80mm suspension fork.

Really nice man.
Always wanted one of those. I actually have an Inbred single speed frame in the garage that I'm going to build up some day. How does it ride? |
It rides very smooth. I love this frame :)

Here's a more recent picture of the bike. I took the hardtail on the Rubicon trail and had a blast.

Nope, those are older Race Face Cranks. |
Pivot Mach 5.7 Carbon with XT/XTR set-up. Sits about 27lbs as-is, can easily be lighter with wheels, saddle, and no dropper post. Should get the first ride in today I hope!

Just got this today. Still at the store because I didnt have my rack with me to bring it home.
I have a Trek 4.5 and have wanted a Mountain Bike for a while. My LBS was having an end of season sale where everything in the store was 50% off. The only research I have done before on MBs was about Trek bikes. I went in this morning and only had 30 minutes before I had to leave for work. They had a Specialized Rockhopper, Felt 970, and a Focus Black Forest 2.0. They told me to skip the Specialized and do the Felt or Focus. I took the Focus out for a spin and LOVED it. The Focus website had MSRP at 1,500. The store had it marked for 1,200. So I paid $600. Very happy and cant wait to ride it!. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=279369 |

Those live on my RM Blizzard and are a nice match as they are red with the black carbon cores... interesting note on those is that my neighbour designed the first Aluminium / carbon cranks for Race Face and I have seen the pre production beta versions he has kept with him. |
Here she is in all of her glory....

Here's a new one- an old garage sale fisher I put an electric hub on. Tops out at about 18mph, but it gets there pretty quickly. It also has gotten a lot of interest- there's a growing crew local riders that want to take it out on the trails. I really need to get the battery mounted on the downtube to get the weight balance right so I can bunnyhop it better.
