Ran across this article on an issue that occurred in the 100 mile event.
The perpetrators here were wrong, got caught, and will be disciplined. The moral here, don't mess with Ken at Leadville.

Felony Charges For Alleged Leadville Entry Swap
Colorado mountain bike racers Wendy Lyall and Katie Brazelton have been banned for life from the Leadville Trail 100 and charged with criminal impersonation after Lyall allegedly used Brazelton’s registration in last year’s race.
Lyall, who is 36, allegedly entered into the race under Katie Brazelton’s name in the age 40-49 category, finishing second in the category, The Denver Post reported. Brazelton couldn’t use the $250 entry because of an injury, Sheryl Miller, a friend of the women told the newspaper.
Race founder and organizer Ken Chlouber told the Post that he got an anonymous tip that Brazelton hadn’t raced, prompting Chlouber to call the women.
When contacted by Chlouber and, later, by Lake County Sheriff Ed Holte, the women confessed to the deception. They returned the coveted belt buckle, pendant and necklace that came with second place and sent Chlouber a letter admitting their wrongdoing and offering “to do anything to rectify the situation.”
“But the situation cannot be rectified,” Chlouber said. “You can’t go back in time and give those ladies who should have podiumed their time in the sun. That’s gone.” [Denver Post]
Colorado District Attorney Mark Hurlbert is charging both women with criminal impersonation, a Class 6 felony, which is the lowest felony charge.
With Brazelton’s second-place finish thrown out, Rachel Farrett is now second in the category and Jacqui Wood third. Both women will receive their trophies at a special ceremony in this year’s race.
Chlouber could not be reached by phone for comment Sunday night.
Spots in the 100-mile race are limited, making competition for race entries fierce, especially after Lance Armstrong began entering in the race in 2008. The $250 entries are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Seriously? Giving them a felony record because their stunt prevented someone from having their 15 minutes of fame? Seems petty at best. Hit them with a civil suit if you must, but this sort of overreaction for something that's hardly more than a prank is below the belt.

I agree, banning them from the race is appropriate. Don't think the civil authorities should have been involved. Looks like the RD is wanting to make an example of these two women. They picked the wrong RD to mess with in this case. Ken C. takes his race rules quite seriously.
