2002 Trek 4300 Alpha, can I use current 4300 parts?
I have a 4300 Alpha I bought in 2002 and I've used it a lot. I'm now commuting to work on road-slicks, all original parts. The main crank is slipping and when I looked at the teeth today many are just worn heavily down, so I need to get rid of its crank. The rear dérailleur isn't shifting properly now, either, so it really needs an overhaul. It's still ridable, but if I get out of the seat the skipping almost causes accidents
I see that Trek still sells these--can I use the current 4300 as a baseline on which parts will fit right in on my frame?

Don't even need to consider the modern 4300. Get some new drivetrain components and keep on truckin'. Probably don't need the whole crankset, btw. My guess: chainrings, chain, casette, cables/housing.

Do you know how to adjust the rear derailleur?
