whats the best bang for your buck 1 1/8 26" DJ fork? it needs to be disc compatible. im not trying to spend too much money on it because it isnt going to hit anything real big. i was looking for around 5 inches travel.

What's not too much money? DJ forks in general aren't *that* expensive. Argyles and Dirt Jumpers are the most common forks, and both can be had for reasonable prices (though the higher level Argyles can be a little pricey). The RST Space Jump is a bit of a hidden gem that sometimes people shy away from because of the crap RST forks that come on entry level bikes, so you may be able to get one for cheap. They can be tough to find though.

However, most DJ forks are 80-100mm. To get a 5 inch travel fork, you probably have to look for an AM or trail fork. That's not to say that you can't dirt jump on a non-DJ-specific fork (plenty of people have Fox F100s and F80s on their DJ bikes, for example), but DJ bikes are usually short travel to get maximum responsiveness out of the bike.

Yes, they are a bit scarce. They are a nice unit though, to be sure.


For the record, entry level forks are pretty universally crap no matter the brand. Lotta low-end RSTs end up spec'd because they meet the purchasing agent's price point.
