How many of us are ?
Over 40 or older of age and still have the same MTB passion as the "young gun" members?
I am 42 and love the trails . Makes me feel young again every ride .

20 here. The trails make me feel old & weak, seeing all the 40+ guys flying by me all the time. It'll probably take me another ten years to catch up with y'all.

55 and have a bit of fondness for downhill racing. Feel young when I clean a sketchy section or boost a big double. Feel old when I crash and break something.

44, riding the road bike alot these days but every chance i get i'm in the mountains w/ my crew - average age is 30, they crush me on the downhills but can't keep up when the terrain goes vertical! I'll be mtn biking as long as the body holds up, absolutely love it.

I'm not 40. I'm NOT 40... most definitely not 40 (for at least a few more months anyway), not really into what you'd call serious mountain biking but love trails, gravel and a bit of mud here and there. Getting out on the bike gets the system working... and a nice fast downhill section (even if it is tarmac) makes me feel alive.

I'm 42 also. Just started mountain biking last year. When i ride i feel like a twelve year old kid....
And on group rides me and my 39 year old buddy often have to stop and wait for the young pups to catch up. (most of the time, anyway).

44 and just got back into it last year. Did a ton of riding in the early 90s but then got a "real" job, married, kids, etc. Not as brave (foolish?) as I used to be, but then again I don't heal nearly as quickly as I used to.

49. I'm not as brave as I used to be, but I'm still getting out there. Hung my road bike on the wall; the MTB gets all the use.

I'm 65, been riding bikes for 40+ years, off-road for about 35. One of my rides will be the last, but probably not the next one.

47 and love it all, but my MTB bike is now getting more use these days. Really can't imagine life without riding in some form or fashion, but not sure if I ever get the the point I have to ride a recumbent on the road, I may have to think seriously about another passion . I ride with people well into their 70s. Gives me hope I still have lots of trails and road in front of me, good Lord willing!

I'm up there, 64. Riding an MTB has to be a passion at this age because a fall can mean broken bones. Still, its a blast to ride off road. I'm notoriously slow on an MTB cause every time I try to go fast I crash. There's no doubt I'm a better road biker than a mountain biker, and I like group road rides. But when I just want to forget about a problem or just focus on an activity, mountain biking is what I do.
I don't know about anyone else, but around here if you allow your mind to think about something other than the trail, a tree jumps right out and blocks the trail.

52. I've been mtn bike riding since around '89-90. I still ride that old 33lb monster and will continue to do so until the new squishy bike is built (my spine ain't what it usedtabe). I can't compete with the younger (or even older for that matter) riders anymore but I can still ride, sweat and talk dirty. I also know a good use for a full size frame pump when being passed by some snot-nosed brat while I'm slogging up a steep hill.

55 and love getting out on the trails. I'm having withdrawal symptoms right now because I'm fixing up my place to sell it and every weekend is spent at home these days, no riding.

64, raced xc motorcycles for 7 years and did OK. Now MTN bike single-track riding and road riding. The earlier high speed woods riding is both good and bad..I know how to read the trail ahead, and I do! Broke left collarbone in '09 when I shorted a downhill log. I didn't read that one very well!
Don't plan on slowing down anytime soon. Makes me feel 20 again, just the women are older.
