Specialized Armadillos?

Love my LBS guys, big reason why I bought a Rockhopper instead of the "other brand" across town.

Of course the store carries a bunch of their stuff and I am in there looking at it. I ask questions and then come here and lurk & search. Have moved up to asking for opinions here too.

When I get the meat rubbed off my stock knobbies I have been thinking about getting the Captain Armadillos cause we have a few places with goatheads and some others with flint rocks.

I'm kinda new to the trails, so not real sure how to describe what I will ride most of the time. Hardpack, I guess and then some limestone and flint rocky areas mixed with rooty paths in the woods. Sometimes ride gravel roads and occasionally am on a MUP.

Are these a decent choice or should I try some others? Mix and match? Am not ready to put out for a tubeless set-up right now, have only had one thorn flat so far and that was because I didn't have tire goo in the tube.

Thanks much, Glynn

Bikes: Are faster than yours.

Armadillo - Or Armadillo Elite - I have the Captain Elites, and they are OK - little heavy, but work well, wear very well. Straight armadillos suck for anything other than just commuting.

Frankly, even the non-armadillo tires are pretty good on flat protection, as long as they have the flak jacket. Love my Mondo's on my road bike.
