Cmputer problem: distance from spokes to fork is too much

Tried to put a simple Specialized computer on my new Pivot.
The distance between the spokes and the fork keeps the sensor too far from the magnet.
Trying to keep it simple. Is there a computer that will work? A GPS would complicate my life.

Try moving the sensor further down the fork. The spokes get wider as they near the hub.
