Winter time MAN-CATION! Where to go?

I have talked to a couple of my riding buddies, floating the idea that we should bust a move, and go riding somewhere warm.

I have always heard of Moab being a riding mecca. I have heard the same for Fruita/Grand Junction. Those two places are pretty close, so that I where I am currently leaning.

Is there somewhere else within 1,000 miles of Boise that I should be considering?

I know Mtn Bike Action is the suck, but they mentioned Northern California and Phoenix as suitable winter rides. AZ is probably too far.

Where would you go? Where wouldn't you go?

The Vegas Area has good camping, biking and MAN stuff to do! the links below take you to three different riding areas. You can Mountain or Roadie ride. You can also take a day trip down to Sedona, AZ. It can be chilly or in the 60's depending on the weather gods. If you camp at Lake Mead you are in the middle of Bootleg and River Mountain Loop. Boulder City is a non gaming town (the only one like it in NV.) It also has great golf. There are cheap hotels along Boulder HWY (Hwy 93/95) mainly in small casinos like the Railroad Pass or Fiesta Henderson.

Depends on your definition of "mancation" there is always "Vegas Baby!" Many men have lost their innocence in this vicinity. But it can also be a great adventure. the weather is usually moderate.

Phoenix is usually about 5-7 degrees warmer than us. The Black Canyon Loop, Sonoran Trail, White Tanks and South Mountain Park have incredible biking.

Las Vegas IS on our short list. Seems to be a football game down there of interest to us. (GO BRONCOS!!!)

My wife and I spent a week down in Sedona last year, and we took my street plated XR650R, as well as our mtn bikes. Did a LOT of exploring on the XR (We thought Jerome was pretty cool!), but mostly blasted around town on the mtn bikes.

Phoenix also sounds good, as we have some connections down there. Definately a warmer destination, but also a bit farther away.

The BIG plus to Las Vegas or Pheonix over Moab/Fruita is that one of the guys might only be able to get away for 4-5 days, and might need to fly back earlier than me and the other guy want to make this trip last.

Thanks for your input Daspyder!

I'll be at that stadium where ASU punks the smurfs! (wishful thinking) I'll be the tall old guy hooting for the Devils. HEY-we can park at my house and ride bikes to the Stadium! There are also some good marshland trails behind Sam Boyd.

Hey Daspydr,
Can you do me a favor? Ask (politely) for your man #7 to not break any Broncos in half? Burfect is one scary dude!

Thank you!

'Dem Boise boys are too fast to catch. But if the ASU crew captures one, expect some MMA to break out. We need to knock the wheels out of balance to have a chance.
