Sold my 2004 Trek 4500 last month for $300. Decided to start looking for a new bike in the $2000 range. Went from a Trek Liquid to Specialized Epic to Jamis Dakar to Giant NRS. Potentials, that is. I went into Copeland Sports today, just to look at their Jamis line. I was asking about the ordering process for a Dakar XC Expert and the guy pointed me towards a window display bike I hadn't noticed. It was a Rocky Mountain Element 50. MSRP was $2300 but the guy offered it to me for approx $1400. I checked it out for a while, then decided upon it. He set it up, threw a fork pump in, and off I was with my new bike. Not what I had planned on buying, but I left very happy. The 2004 has a beautiful red color as well. Icing on the cake. I just watched the Rocky Mountain consumer video and I was amazed at how much work they put into building their bikes. Tomorrow I am taking it out on the trails. It's been pouring rain, so hopefully the Earth will have soaked it up by then. I'm glad to finally get a bike, now I can stop researching and just ride. Thanks you guys for the help along the way.

No pics yet. I bought the bike then left the area for several weeks. Only rode it briefly in the mud, then washed it and left it. The MSRP was $2300 but I got it closeout for $1400. Copeland Sports. The guy there is a fellow Christian, and if anything, that should provide a higher level of integrity, which is nice when dealing with the bike business. But I will be riding the tar out of it in a week or so. What do you guys think of this bike?

Bikes: 2005 Rocky Mountain ETSX, Surly Crosscheck, 2000 Enduro Expert (sold), 1999 Rockhopper, 1984 Trek 520 (STOLEN-but recovered!), $7 rigid MTB from a police auction (broken, then stolen)
I think "salesman trying to move old stock" usually kind of overpowers any kind of "christian integrity".
Nice bike though.

But, this kind of hypocritic following occurs with with any religion or group (obviously).

Agreed, and if you do want to indulge in these types of discussions, check out the "Politics and Religion" threads.
Let's just leave it there and NOT here!

I couldn't quite figure out why there were so many replies in 1 day? Then I read them all and realized everyone jumped all over the comment about the seller being a Christian.
Anyways, yes that picture is the bike I got, exactly that one.
And just to settle everyone's minds, it wasn't until after I bought the bike and was on my way out that I found out he was a fellow Christian. The purchase of the bike had nothing to do with his faith. I simply asked if he knew of a good local church, and he pointed me to a few, and we talked for a couple minutes about it all. So don't everyone freak out just yet. =)
